Elderly neighbours and coronavirus

I want to offer my help, drop anything they need to the doorstep etc. However - am I putting them at more risk? I have 2 children, I’m out in the community far more than they are... I’d wash my hands - but we’re all recovering from slight cold/runny nose.

You could leave a note on their door, give your phone number, and say you are available to go to the store for them. They could leave money at the door and you can deliver the items without having to go inside. It's very nice of you to help out.

Thanks aqua! I’d plan to do that. It’s a fear that I could contaminate objects that I leave for them in the doorstep. I guess that’s low risk? But if they DID fall ill, I’m concerned that I’d feel responsible - or they might see me as responsible.

Sorry - on surfaces...

Text your neighbours, offer to fetch groceries for them, and let them decide.

I thought about this the other day - then I realised we are the oldest people on our street.

Windmillwhirl · 16/03/2020 02:46

Surely your neighbours can disinfectant the items once you drop them off?

Grin @Redshoeblueshoe I might just pop some gloves on, and pop one of those postcards they are recommending through their letterbox. Might wait until elderly are officially told to self isolate.
