Bad time to start new Nurse job?

I’m a nurse in the NHS, just been offered a position at a higher band. Pay rise would be brill but am I crackers to leave what’s familiar during this pandemic? I’m at the top of my band for salary and skills so the job is essentially the same as what I’m doing now. I’m outpatients so not likely to be eeffected (ie not on a ward) by corona but perhaps I shouldn’t give up my seniority and generally supportive work and colleagues? Have two young DCs so want whatever is best for them. Any thoughts? Will I be more likely to be redeployed at new post? X

Less likely to be redeployed at higher band.

You are unlikely to be short of clients

I’m a nurse but not in acute and I feel utterly useless right now. I’ve realised how little point my role actually has the majority of the time.

Thank you, good to know about redeployment. Any one have thoughts whether the role or contract can be cancelled due to pandemic? I have already recieved unconidtitonal off Er but not returned signed contract to the trust. They also requested an occ health review (routine), but is that likely to process during pandemic crisis?

You can be redeployed at any post, and to be honest, OPD and anyone in wards associated with elective surgeries or any thing that can be postponed probably will be amongst the first to be moved.

Thank you yes I reckon I’ll get redeployed especially with the news this evening that the Crisis May continue another year. I reckon no point to waiting to switch until it’s over if that’s the case?

If you've been offered a higher band, take it. At least you've been up banded for whatever lies ahead.
I'm already in the ED so i suspect other than an educational role for up skilling 3rd year students, band 5s & 6s there's not really anywhere else I could be going. Good luck. We are all doing a great job wherever we are!
