To wonder how long the schools may close for

I’ve been reading different articles about the risk that schools may be closed. Some are saying this could be 13 weeks plus with the summer holiday to still go ahead as planned. Aibu to think this could be very unhelpful for parents and children. How will exams go ahead.

@frankiethree I have a DS who is going to be sitting A levels this summer so I do appreciate that this solution is not going to suit everybody. GCSE teachers keep huge amounts of data for each student anyway and if you're a student who only works when it gets close to exams then you've only got yourself to blame. Do students make A level choices based on GCSE results? The subjects you enjoy the most are usually the ones you excel in and there is still the opportunity for teachers to make recommendations if there is confusion. BTECs are ongoing assessment - my DS is also doing a BTEC he is on the final couple of modules of his course - results are easily predictable here as the whole course is continually assessed anyway. Health should be our priority here - as long as no-one is denied access ongoing education students will have to take it on the chin.

I am in Ni. There's strong rumours ours will close this week, possibly until September. I am not entirely convinced and think they will keep going for a couple of weeks yet. I am frontline NHS but have made plans with friends to help each other out - yes I know that might defeat the purpose of them closing, but we have to work. I am sure it will be no more than 3 families together at anyone time anyway.

A parent has challenged the decision to keep schools in NI, and it’s in the high court today.

Let's face it, they will all be given an elevated grade to make the school look good. They won't mark lower as it'll affect the stats
