Can I be fired for self isolation?

I’m a nanny, 3 weeks into a new job and on probation for a further 5 weeks.

I had 1 day off sick last week with what the docs, and I (having had it several times before) said was bronchitis. So I had 1 day off then they asked me to come back into work. They seem to be of the mindset that we’re all going to get it anyway which I don’t agree with but last week I was advised it wasn’t COVID-19 so I went back to work.

I’ve now developed a dry persistent cough which I have had before with bronchitis but bronchitis normally lasts longer then a few days. Obviously 111 advise is self isolation for a week. If I do this, can they fire me?!

Please don’t all jump on me, I know if I need to self isolate then I need to self isolate but fuck, I need this job also. I will be totally fucked without it

Yes, they can. If you've been in employment for less than 2 years they can pretty much do what they want

Yes, they can dismiss you.

No advice on the rest of it sorry, but if they want they can let you go.
