Let's have positive stories of people helping each other

In response to a very negative thread (actually there's a few today I notice!) let's have a thread that shows people are kind and decent, and that community spirit is actually alive and well in the UK right now.

I'll start - a few members of my local community have set up a group on Facebook where everyone can join to help those who are housebound, vulnerable or perhaps self isolating but no one to go to the shops for them.

Local businesses have offered to be drop off points for anyone wishing to donate goods ( the local food bank is helping with logistics ) and there are plenty of people offering to drive all over to get the supplies to those no need them.

Local businesses are also offering all sorts to the group to help, and local people are really getting into the spirit of it and donating essentials as well as volunteering to run things around to larger areas.

I think it's a fantastic idea and I wish I could help ( don't drive ) but will donate a little something when I can.

Let's hear your stories of people coming together and helping those in less than favourable situations :)

My friend dropped chocolate, wine and crisps onto my doorstep yesterday!

My lovely (ex) inlaws did a shop for me and my partner on Friday. They even make a second stop to pick up Maltesers 😊 They really are brilliant Star

It's lovely isn't it? The group have just posted saying that if anyone is worried about contact - don't worry, they will phone or message when out for delivery and leave on doorstep then wait in their cars to see it's been taken in properly.

Fantastic to see that people DO care and are helping those in the worst kind of situations. More of these stories which will make us all feel better - not just the negative behaviour of a few, which will help fester resentment and negativity.

I'm guessing not many positive stories out there then 🙈🤣

Where we are (central European country) schools, nurseries and non essential businesses have been shut for a few days. Healthy people are allowed to go to the supermarket if necessary and you can go for walks if you keep 2 metres away from others.

Most people aren't panic-buying, although there is already a lot less available in the supermarkets because although most of the borders are still open it's taking up to 18 hours for trucks to enter the country.

Most people are calm though, possibly because everyone over 30 remembers living through a war and has that as a sense of perspective on what is happening now.

Admittedly it's all a bit strange and worrying. But it's also really beautiful, to have space and time to think about what really matters most.

It's good isn't it @Mesmeri that people are staying calm and thinking of others.

More of that to make it all a bit less scary I think. I started to panic this morning a bit ( can't afford to go shopping just now, live week to week basically based on my pay) and worried the business I work for May have to close.

But positive stories help with the panic and balance out everything that's going wrong.

I think it's too early to hear positive stories yet
