Would you visit your elderly DP next weekend?

We live in North and DP live in South. Last saw them Nov.
Both have underlying health problems and I have the feeling I will regret it if I do not visit if government then say to isolate over 70s.
Trouble is I have DC who is 9 and could transmit virus and they would have to come with me as no other childcare. WWYD?

Same position here except my DP is healthy ARAIK.
My DP asked me not to visit and have said goodbyes.

It's hard isn't it. I visited my 90 year old nan this morning with my children. She's a widow and she's lonely and I visit her most weekends. She's quite frail, so it could be serious for her if she caught it. I phoned her and gave her the choice. She said she would much rather see us. She hadn't seen anyone for a few days and wanted some company. We didn't hug or kiss etc. Why don't you speak to your parents and see what they would prefer? I suppose ultimately if they are of sound mind it's their decision?

I'm planning on seeing my DPs next weekend but will leave my DC at home as they're old enough to be left. Both DPs are in their 80s so it may be my last chance. After that i will ask them to self isolate (if the government has alreay announced it) and arrange for their food deliveries.

I really feel for my sister right now as she emigrated 5 years ago and has no idea if she or her husband will see their parents again (or even if they could come over for a funeral if the worst happens).

In your situation i would probably take DS with you assuming you are all feeling well/had no contact with a confirmed case and use the usual precautions (hand washing etc). I wouldn't stay overnight with them though. If it's some distance i would book a hotel.
