I am confused with the please don't call 111 strategy. I understand if you have CV symptoms that you self isolate at home for 7 days for a new cough or fever and that you must not waste 111 time by informing anybody.
A couple of people I know decided this means that if you get really sick and are really short of breath/struggling to breathe that you still don't do anything and effetectively die at home.
My take was when it looks like you really need help as you can't manage at home and are seriously unwell you call 111 or 999 if it is a complete emergency.
On a non-CV front what do you do if a child has an asthma attack - I thought you called GP/111/999 depending on severity. Yesterday, I heard of a case where 111 said it was respiratory and parents told just to stay at home although it was a severe attack. (They drove to A&E in the end as nebulisers required.)
Ok, what if you have a cough but fall down the stairs and break your leg?
It seems there are 101 ways to not treat people and leave them to suffer in pain. I do think we need clearer guidelines.
