Will people need to self isolate more than once?

Wondering how many times a child can get a cough if this pandemic goes on for months!
My DD has a cough, it’s a nasal drip cough from a cold she has been struggling with for a few weeks. However I know my childminder will want her isolated as she is coughing.
If I self isolate her now when I’m fairly sure she doesn’t have Covid-19 then if she does actually catch it in a few weeks time I’m going to end up doing it again! I obviously will follow all the guidelines, but I’m fairly sure my work won’t be too impressed if I have to self isolate my kids numerous times over the next few months because they get normal childhood coughs.
With no testing how do people know whether they have or haven’t had it? Do the government really believe people will self isolate every single time they get a cough for the next few months? I think they will assume after they have done it once they are immune, but this may not be the case.

It’s a really good question. My dd regularly goes from cough to cough, and always a dry one. My ds always has a wet cough. It’s crossed my mind too but I guess we have to just keep isolating them until we are told we no longer have to. Hopefully if we all follow the advise now, this bloomin virus will be squashed. Time will tell.
