Availability of Prescription Drugs

What is likely to happen with the availability of prescription medicines? That is worrying me the most. Especially as there have already been problems with, for example, EpiPens in the last year or so. I’m on a controlled drug.

No one has a crystal ball.

Staff isolation could make just about any production line fall over.

But food and medicine will be priorities for support measures

Thanks. I guess I was partly wondering how it has worked so far in Italy etc.

Anyone else worried about getting hold of prescription medication that they desperately need?

I recently got my two inhalers on prescription the other week but I'm considering ordering another two so I have two of each rather than just one of each. Not sure if I'll be restricted on ordering more though?

Me.
Insulin. Test strips. Pump supplies. Tbh if I get to a point where I cant get insulin I will use the remaining insulin I have as a euthanasia method. I’m not dying through dka. It’s horrific.

@covetingthepreciousthings I would ask and just say it's as a precaution in the current situation. DH had 100 cocodamol for his arthritis at the beginning of March, it usually lasts him around a month but we decided we should both try and make sure we have full supplies of all our meds in, so he requested another 100 yesterday and put a note on saying it was because of everything being so uncertain and he can't be without his meds. I did the same with my migraine meds and requested more ventolin too and it was all approved for both of us.

I believe there has been a fair amount stockpiled by the government for Brexit (well, if the media is to be believed so probably not!), even if not it will be prioritised.

@ Butterbear86
Totally agree. I'm wondering if I ring up and try and order more pods next week they will allow early orders? Surely makes sense! I have one libre sensor. Thankfully I stocked up on insulin with the threat of Brexit and I reckon I have a couple of months worth.

I definitely noticed a more considerate and focused approach with my nagging about dd's order of delivered medication. I normally have to ring for weeks to get a delivery date but only 2 phone calls and a return call to say sorted!

OhGoodness · 14/03/2020 21:27

Oh, @Butterbear86, that’s an awful prospect to face. I’m so sorry.
And if we all ask for extra then that in itself will cause problems.

There is no anticipated huge shortage of medicines but lie loo roll and baby milk if people over order there will be sporadic shortages. We are letting people have 2 months supply and 2 ventolins to avoid extra trips to the pharmacy.

OhGoodness · 14/03/2020 22:32

Thanks, @yikesanotherbooboo.

I've just had to call around several chemists to be able to get my epilepsy medication, I couldn't even get a generic brand
