I'm looking on Amazon and Ebay, and I can't work out which are worth buying.

Any tips, please?

Thank you.

I bought some cute fabric masks off Etsy. I also have some surgical style masks. Just learn to getting used to them.

I realise this is an old thread, but it seems to have become more relevant! A friend bought me this one from Etsy. Lovely soft fabric, beautifully made and comfortable to wear. A bit thicker to breath through than a surgical mask so I don't wear it for physio (not in uk, ,asks obligatory here in certain places).

You posted at least 5 posts in different threads promoting face masks from a particular website, complete with link. They were all in one day and no other posts about any other subject under this user name. You're still posting mostly on face mask threads. That meets my definition of spamming and presumably MNs too, since they deleted them. Is that clear?

That lat post was to PalmaSprings, who possibly has an unhealthy obsession with face masks and amazing loyalty to one seller of them.

I bought 20 stretchy washable fabric ones and use a piece of string kitchen roll folded 3 times inside. Use a clean mask every time I go to the supermarket, which is the only time I go out in public.

Mumsnet needs to ban these ridiculous mask slating posts as some people think this site is the source of actual information. They do work. Read recent Lancet article.

knittingaddict · 05/06/2020 09:13

To be fair this thread was started 3 months ago and most/all the posts saying that masks don't work are from that time. I think most people now accept that masks might help stop some spread of the virus.

B1rdbra1n · 05/06/2020 10:51

Nearly 10 quid for that😳
It looks extremely roughly homemade I could knock it up myself in no time at all, that said I still haven't got round to making any 🤦🏼‍♀️

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/06/2020 11:07

They can also be reused many times as long as you don’t contaminate the inside by touching it with nonsterile hands. Since the theory is that they're to protect others, not you, shouldn't you be hoping that the inside gets very contaminated with virus from you that isn't being released through the mask to the outside world?

Just put your hand over your mouth. That's all their purpose is for anyway to silence and disconnect us from communicating with each other.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you! Confused

You're going to keep your hand over your nostrils and mouithnall the time on public transport! Won't you get tired holding one/both hands like that, and then find it difficult to walk off without touching anything?

The virus is transmitted before you are symptomatic, and also from asymtomatic cases. So masks aren't just to catch a cough. They're to contsin (at least partially) all exhalations all the time

Please don't tell me that you actually took that literally.

I didn't think it was witty enough to be a spoof.

And given the level of misunderstandings in some posts, yes I did think posting the bleeding obvious was still needed.

Got my old sewing machine out for the first time in about 20 years and made my own using the Jeese pattern on this website. www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/ You measure the face so it fits well and has room to breathe.
