Parents! Please don’t send your kid to school with a cough or temperature

We’ll have to send them home again, and that’s a whole lot of hassle that could have easily been avoided by parents following the government advice.

No, you don’t get to decide whether the cough or a fever is ‘simply a cold’. Neither do we. Just follow the guidelines please.

Apart from anything, it’s freaking their classmates out and we can really do without stressing out the kids even more about this.

Thank you.

I'm about to head into school (AU) so really hope this (our norm) is not happening. I shouldn't be going for my own health reasons but dh is very sick and cannot work.

I know some parents have no choice. Most do. So irresponsible to send unwell children to school

We've had variations on a theme of 'It's just a cough and cold with a temperature. His brother had it last week', 'Your thermometer must be faulty, I took her temperature this morning and it was fine' ignoring the fact that if you took her temperature this morning, you must have had some idea that she wasn't well before you dropped her off, 'If he's better in the morning, I'll send him in' and we'll send him straight back out again or, my favourite of the day 'You're frightening people' -By sending your obviously sick child home? How frightened do you think his classmates were to have to sit with him this morning? They frogmarched him to Medical in the first place with the full support of his teacher, who has only just come back from cancer treatment, so was too scared to bring him herself.

Most parents have been fine. But the ones that aren't, really aren't.
