How to get groceries to the housebound?

MarieFromStTropez · 14/03/2020 11:49

We have a relative who lives alone and struggles to leave the house. For the past few years, we have organised a grocery delivery once a week for them. However, none of the supermarkets have availability at the moment for home delivery. What is everyone doing? Is Airtasker an option? Desperately looking for a solution as we are overseas and cannot even get a plane over to help, as all are cancelled.

Where are they based? Have you tried the 4 hour delivery slots rather than the one hour ones?

Would something like Wiltshire farm ready meal deliveries help?

Amazon? Coop via deliveroo?

Does your relative have a neighbour as a contact? If not he needs one.

Have a look at some of the local community Facebook pages. A lot of communities are setting up volunteer schemes to help those who are self isolating or vulnerable. Food bank near us are also looking at doing care packages that they will leave on the doorstep to minimise contact.

My local FB group is full of people offering to help. Take a look there might be someone on there willing to get some shopping in.

Thanks everyone. My relative is in the UK (London) but we’re overseas.
