Anyone that has or had coronavirus?

Has anyone treated them?

Aibu to wonder why there have been no first hand stories about it?

Obviously it's all a big fake to piss you off Hmm

SoupDragon · 14/03/2020 10:26

Why do you think there are no first hand stories?

I know of someone in the nearest town as we got letters from school as the kids might have mixed but not anyone personally yet.

Hingeandbracket · 14/03/2020 10:35

Yeah I know 20 people who have had it.

I had it as well, so did my cat.

We got better though.

Hmm
FredaFrogspawn · 14/03/2020 10:36

Go to the coronavirus topic

bemoreeverything · 14/03/2020 10:41

Maybe, maybe not. As there are no testing facilities unless you end up in hospital it's impossible to know. Jenny has a bit of a cough, she might have it. Bob has a temperature but that's not unusual for him as he is often fighting infections; but he may have it.

None of us know.

SilverySurfer · 14/03/2020 10:43

where to put threads about the virus? Yes, there's a Coronavirus Board under Health.

HTH

fiftiesmum · 14/03/2020 10:47

Because those involved in treatment are too tired after a twelve hour shift. NHS also asking staff to cancel leave and come in to work extra shifts so no time to sit and write their memoirs.

OlaEliza · 14/03/2020 10:51

@SoupDragon only a small percentage that get it die. It's not an illness that will strike down everyone that gets it.

I can understand nhs staff being too tired but why no first hand stories of relatives that have been in hospital?

And if ppl font know for sure that they have it, is it really that serious? Does it warrant all this fuss?

I didn't know that about bill gates. That's interesting.

Musicalmistress · 14/03/2020 10:51

Yes, colleague from work's husband has been confirmed via testing. Why?

ragged · 14/03/2020 10:52

Follow Tom Hanks, OP.
there are some interesting videos on Youtube. I gather that the cough can be quite painful. And it's not fun feeling like it's hard to breathe.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 14/03/2020 10:53

@OlaEliza i hope there's enough tin foil left in the supermarket for your hats love

bemoreeverything · 14/03/2020 10:57

And if ppl font know for sure that they have it, is it really that serious? Does it warrant all this fuss?

Yes of course it is that serious. For the very reason above. If people don't know they have it then they are more likely to spread it to the vulnerable. It's not difficult to understand. There is no conspiracy here, this shit is real.

fiftiesmum · 14/03/2020 11:00

And people are not going to give away their own or relatives stories if there is any chance of a book deal (am I too cynical)

Dahlietta · 14/03/2020 11:10

Aren't we still on roughly 1000 confirmed cases in the UK? The chances of anyone knowing anyone with it are actually pretty slim. I know people who are self-isolating so it's theoretically possible that they have it, but without testing, you can't tell.

bemoreeverything · 14/03/2020 11:12

Aren't we still on roughly 1000 confirmed cases in the UK?

The lack of testing is the only reason for the confirmed number to be low. It's not even as high as 1000

The chances of anyone knowing anyone with it are actually pretty slim.

The chances of knowing someone with it are quite big. It's the chances of the person knowing they have it that is slim.

Nquartz · 14/03/2020 11:13

There's plenty of people on the corona board who think they have it but can't get tested.

We think DD has it, two friends' kids might have it but they're generally ok

Dahlietta · 14/03/2020 11:21

Well yes, that was the point of my third sentence. The OP asked if we know anyone with it, but as I said without testing, you can't tell. I agree we may all know someone with it, but it won't help the OP with her conspiracy theory unless it is proved that they do.

ragged · 14/03/2020 20:55

If only 1/50 of ppl tested had it, then a LOT of people think they have it & don't have it.

rumandbiscuits · 14/03/2020 21:01

I have been wondering the same thing OP. It would be nice to hear from someone who has had it. Atm all we are hearing is hysteria and panic. If there's an 80% chance we are all getting it, it would be helpful to know what we are in for. Obviously I know that can change from case to case though. It's the unknown that makes it all so scary.

OlaEliza · 14/03/2020 23:18

That's what I mean. There are no stories of 'I had/have it and it's like this ...'

OP posts:
bemoreeverything · 14/03/2020 23:32

There are no stories of 'I had/have it and it's like this ...'

That's because the confirmed cases are all still unwell. Out of over 1000 cases in the U.K. only 18 are 'recovered' the rest of them are still active cases so they are not able to cut about telling people what it is like. The bigger, actual figure, those people can't tel you because they are not being tested so they don't even know they have it.

lljkk · 15/03/2020 07:55

53yo Steve Walsh talks all about his experience here (sorry, Daily Wail). He went skiing & to the pub while 'ill'.

There are videos on youtube folk talking about what it's like with more severe illness.
Nadine Dorries tested positive. She or whoever manages her Twitter is extremely busy tweeting, including specifics about who she sat next to recently.

Has talked about her mother having it too.
You are not looking very hard for first hand accounts, OP.
