Children between two homes

We live 20 miles apart from sd, I'm wandering will there be restrictions on going between houses?
AnotherMurkyDay · 14/03/2020 10:58
Yes if a family is quarantined then that includes movement between different households, even if the other family members are also quarantined. Because you can't break the quarantine to take it in turns, that entirely defeats the point. So if SC has a fever SC stays in whichever home they are in, be that with mum or dad, until the end of the quarantine. I would take things like work commitments into consideration. If one parent has the option to work from home, but the other is a frontline healthcare worker I would keep the SC with whichever parent could best cope if they needed to quarantine.

Thank you that bit goes without saying, what about if no one is ill but the UK restrict movement? We don't live in the same borough so I'm wandering if staying across two homes will be stopped even if everyone is well?
AnotherMurkyDay · 14/03/2020 11:15
I don't think the government are going to be that clear and think about every scenario so it will be down to your discretion for the most part. Ideally children would not be living in more than one home or moving across county lines regularly, but obviously it's not always possible in practice.
Scruffyoak · 14/03/2020 11:18
I do not think that will happen but same situ. Exh is 4hr away and we have contact orders so not sure!
cheninblanc · 14/03/2020 12:01
Scruffyoak same here, but I suppose if they do impose restrictions on movement it may need to be considered?
HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 14/03/2020 12:03
I would guess if you are travelling in private cars it would be fine, not so much if using public transport
SuperMumTum · 14/03/2020 12:16
I don't see how leaving the house to get in the car and drive to a different house is putting anyone at increased risk assuming all the residents at both houses are prepared to be in the same boat, infection-wise. We could be on restricted movement for months - it doesn't mean no movement at all.
Nikhedonia · 14/03/2020 12:17
I'm not sure how they would actually police it though, checkpoints along the motorways?
cheninblanc · 14/03/2020 12:43
I don't believe there's any increased risk but was just something that came to mind as it's a situation we are in whereby she goes between two houses weekly
StrawberryJam200 · 14/03/2020 12:56
I as trying to think some of this through a couple of weeks ago, see here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3836344-To-worry-that-my-children-might-first-show-symptoms-of-Covid-19-at-my-ex-s-and-then-not-be-able-to-come-home

It would be interesting to know whether the family courts will start wording new contact orders any differently, or whether Cafcass or Children’s Services have any ideas.
