Testing to protect immunosuppressed colleague?

My dh works with someone who is forever on medication due to a treated brain tumour a few years ago.

Dh has been off work for a week with all of the symptoms of coronavirus but is feeling better now so is planning to go back to work on Monday.

If he's not supposed to call 111 or get tested without severe symptoms, is there anything else he can do to protect his vulnerable colleague? Or would he be tested in this situation?

Tbh if I were the colleague I'd take it into my own hands and self isolate. If you DH has had CV it's too late to do anything about it, I'm not sure that knowing will help.

He wouldn't be tested. No one is being tested unless they are so ill with it they're in hospital.

I was thinking similarly to the OP and wondering about how you get tested if you have the symptoms. I think it’s odd that you need to wait until you’re so bad to the point of hospitalisation before being tested though.

thank you @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor for clearing this up
