Anyone else got a bit of a cough/sore throat and panicking? How do you know when you’ve got it, or when it’s just a cold? Argh!

Unless you are a vulnerable person you are being extremely self indulgent, go and find something or some one else to worry about?

@BillywilliamV I’m both, thanks, now piss off and shit on someone else 😁

@BillywilliamV in all fairness there is no concrete way to know if you have coronavirus or not unless you get so horrific you have to go to hospital.

I can only speak for myself but I know I’m panicking so try to keep myself in check, the result of that though is every little thing is overanalysed. Is that little tickle at the back of my throat the start of it? Am I being irresponsible treating it as nothing when it could be something? This is why you see people on threads trying to establish what a persistent cough is. Are they okay or are they infected.

@Tool yes, me! I posted on FB recently.

Every cough, sniff, tender throat... I've realised the throat is stress related so have managed to tune it out now.

It's not that I'm particularly afraid for myself, though I do have asthma. It's more a kind of hyper vigilance. Jump on the first signs to make sure I don't spread it, that I treat it (as far as there is any way to) etc.

And I must say DH is the same- he's announced several times that he's going down with something.
I've pointed out that he's eating normally, behaving normally, and has no symptoms so I'm not sure what he can be 'going down' with.

@BillywilliamV go and find another thread, you clearly don't know anything about hyperchondria Angry

@picklemewalnuts that’s one of my big fears, I would hate to be a spreader and pass it along. especially if a family member died. I know there’s no way of tracing how you get it, but if I had it and they got it, I’d always wonder :(

You have to remember that it is out there, everywhere- even though that is scary too!
If you didn't try to slow it down personally then there could be some room for guilt, but there will be plenty of ways to catch it I'm afraid.

As a household, we've all stayed in when we can for the last ten days. So we've each done a couple of work things outside the house, but otherwise stayed in. DS is doing Uni work at home, DH has had a couple of days in the office and the rest WFH. Same here. DS1 has to go in at the moment, but he walks so less risk from public transport.
If we all stay in when we can, we'll be ok.

I'm definitely a bit of a hypochondriac. But the thing to note with Covid 19 is that the majority of healthy people get it mildly, many so mildly that they are asymptomatic. Of course, they are still infectious to others. So actually I think it is a time to be over cautious with any possible symptoms rather than the usual push through and get in British mentality.

Push through and get on

It’s just that worry that it’s starting that’s getting to me. One of my children has an intermittent breathing problem which is, typically, starting to flair up now. If it gets worse then we will inevitably be hospitalised, and probably be more likely to get corona! Plus I’d have to leave other kids with my parents who are elderly. It’s just a mess. I think I’m trying to talk it through and work out a plan.

Plus I’ve got a tickley throat and I’m too hot so clearly I’ve got it already 😂 I’m such a hypochondriac and I know it, but it doesn’t stop me worrying!

Kids do fine remember! We need to cocoon our oldies, and ourselves if we have comorbidities.

@picklemewalnuts, I just hope someone’s cocooned David Attenborough!

Stop! Enough! I can't face tomorrow without David Attenborough and the Queen! Well, maybe as long as I have one of them...
