Pulling kids out of school x Coronavirus

Hi everyone,
I don't want to start a war, just really need some advice and reassurance (that the gmvt is not giving me atm).
Our family is half italian, so we followed very closely what was happening there also because our friends are family are there right now. It was and is terrifying. When Boris Johnson made announcement on Thursday that barely any measures will be taken it was a bit of a shock.
My kids high school is in a temporary building that has just about 2 sinks x bathroom and 2 bathrooms. They were not provided with hand gel and I can't find any to give them. They take train to and from Heathrow just a few stations from the airport and have barely any means to clean their hands. My partner is asthmatic and my father had a collapsed lung, I suffer chronic bronchitis.
I don't understand why we don't have a choice whether to send kids to school or not. Me and my partner can work from home now, we can look after them. And it should be up to us. I would pull them out, but next week are the Q3 exams. I don't want them to suffer bad grades as they both work their bums off all year round and are really worried about GSCEs and uni.
I know kids don't get that sick, but they are still carriers.
School is being very inflexible and confrontational.
Is there a way for them to re-sit Q3? I don't mind fines, but I don't want their absences to affect their report. Is there a way legally to appeal if they are penalised?
I'm sure I am inviting wrath upon me and I know all gvmt reasoning, no need to retell. My question is if I cannot chose, what can I do?
Thank you

What years are your children in? If you can keep them of, Id do so. We have a huge amount of staff off already, schools cant stay open long like this regardless of what the idiots in charge say

They are your children, if you want to keep them off then do so, you don't need any government's approval.

I wouldn't worry about the exams affecting their long term future, it's one set of exams and by the sounds of it they are hard working kids so will get back on track in the months/years to come.

I think your priority should be to protect the vulnerable (health wise) in your family; Keep your children at home if that is what you want to do!
