Baby due in baby, right at predicted peak

So I am expecting a baby due in early May, right when the Coronavirus peak is due to hit the UK according to projections.

Three people have already told me to prepare to give birth at home, Confused another 2 said likely that hospitals will be deserted as we are likely to be in lockdown.

I can't get much information online, would anyone have an idea what to expect?

You will be able to have your baby as normal. Tho ha that may be different are scheduled operations, all births will still happen and staff will be there waiting to look after you and your baby. You may find that you won't be allowed lots of visitors, just your birthing partner. Try not to worry xx

I'm booked in for a section in early May.
Have spoken to many different HCP, consultants, midwives etc
There will also be provision for you to have your baby in hospital and maternity services will be available.
My midwife practiced throughout both swine and avian flu and care was always provided.
The services that will be effected are non emergency or elective surgeries eg hip replacement, knee surgery etc

Same here, due end April/ beginning May. There's not much that can be done. I will see what advice is on a weekly basis.
My local hospital has a separate entrance and department for delivery, so I'm happy enough it will be able to isolate. It also has no intensive care so major patients won't be treated there.

I'm due end of April and had been hoping for a home birth but thinking it may not be an option now if staff are required in hospital. I'm just going to try and stay as calm as possible and accept that things may change

@TeapotsLoveYouLots I'm booked in for a ELCS too, for MH reasons. Have they reassured you these will be going ahead? My due date is end of June and apparently the peak will be May/June. Very frightened I'll be told I have to give birth naturally as not enough doctors to do ELCS.

The news about the newborn baby is so sad. They are trying to work out if it contracted it in the womb or during birth. Unbelievably scary
