Panic buying hand wash

For those doing things like this, you do realise in order for covid not to spread, other people need to be able to wash their hands and can’t do that properly if you are hoarding all the damn soap.

isn't normal soap supposed to be better than all the anti-bac handwash that is flying off the shelves anyway?

With you 100% on this, it’s like common sense has left the building

You can use any type of skin safe detergent. Shampoo, body, bath, dish & bar soap.

And you'll be needing hand cream at some point too so buy that before every fucker else does too.

People are thick and are seriously starting to piss me off.

I nip in the local Aldi most days at around 8.30 before I go to work (usually to just get something for lunch or whatever). It's normally just me and the staff in there and one or two other customers. Today it was like Christmas Eve!!! At 8.30 on a Friday!

Agreed.
My mother works in tescos and she said the exact same thing 🙄

No one is hoarding all the damn soap. Most people who have taken responsibility and started planning ahead some time ago have bought a few extras. There's been maybe a week with some low stock in some shops- and it'll all be back to normal very soon.

Just use bar soap. Any detergent works fine. You don't need handwash

@Prepenultimate I’m not suggesting any one person has taken it upon themselves to buy up all the hand wash but there is a shortage and again, if people want to stop Coronavirus from spreading, don’t buy more than you normally would (which they are doing otherwise it would be there to buy.)
It’s not rocket science and it’s selfish, unnecessary panic buying as usual.
Taken responsibility....😂 Jesus wept.

But I imagine 90-95% of the population don't buy antibacterial handgel regularly. So if everyone just tries to buy one small bottle each, that wipes out all supplies without any body panicking or being selfish.
You seem to be scoffing at my use of the word responsibility. Don't you think individuals have a responsibility to do what they can? I'm hearing a lot of people thinking it's just up to the government or the council or the banks etc to sort things out. I think we should all take responsibility to plan and take necessary precautions .

I’d say it was more of a chortle than a scoff.
Your use of the word responsibility within that sentence implies people who haven’t bought hand gel are some how irresponsible which actually isn’t remotely the case.

You also aren’t making any sense because within that sentence you say people have bought extra because they are responsible and now you are saying people don’t usually buy it so stock is generally low and now they are, it’s run out.

I went to Lidl today. No bread. No tinned anything. No toilet or kitchen roll. No hand wash, shower gel or shampoo (weirdly.) No dried pastas/rices etc.

People are panicking and hoarding.

The op talks about hand wash (ie. liquid soap) not antibac hand gel Confused

I agree people must be buying more than necessary or has everyone suddenly run out of soap at the same time?
My two local shops have no hand wash, bar soap or shower gel in stock and haven’t all week

I’ve been to all sorts of places this week in search and you cannot get hold of anything like that. I also went to look for cleaning products and that’s all on the verge of emptying too.

Or maybe people have bought more because they're using more due to increased hand washing? I'm certainly being more vigilant about hand washing as soon as i get in the house, and after doing things like putting laundry in the machine. I also insist that any visitors wash their hands when they come into the house. So I am probably using twice as much as before.

People are washing their hands more = they need more soap.
