Toddler Symptoms

Trying to remain calm and with some perspective but my toddler has developed a dry cough, no sniffles and very upset tummy but no vomiting , a slight temp but nothing high. Not eating and just really lethargic. Since last night.

His sibling is a bit peaky but no other issues. Could just be tired!

He goes to nursery etc and I work in an office- and my 'asthma ' has ramped up overnight. Plus husband has been off colour with a rotten cold for a week and useless achey and exhausted with no cough just sniffles.man flu

Do I just treat as I would normally would pre cv? Keep at home? Any advice how toManage his tummy pain and cough?

111 was on hold for 45 mins so had to hang up...and website unclear. What are the symptoms for small Kids?

And yes I am currently suffering from ramped up anxiety as my grandpa is In hosp with pneumonia anyhow ( for a month) ! So can't see him or anything!

Please be kind but act as the pragmatic thought process. I seem to have mislaid mine!

Any new cough - you should be self isolating, or keeping your LO off .

Butterwhy · 13/03/2020 15:41

Self isolate if you think it could be, if he becomes worse to the point of requiring medical care then call back. Otherwise the same as usual for the many colds and viruses that do the rounds at this time of year, as it likely is. At least though by isolating if it is that you have done what you can to help prevent the spread.

111 website says to self isolate if you have a cough (not a long term one like with COPD) or a temp over 37.8.

111.nhs.uk/service/COVID-19/

This explains who will be tested for it.

Treat pain with calpol, plenty of drinks to prevent dehydration and for sore throats. Lollies are good to.

My toddler came home from nursery with a temperature yesterday evening. it wasn't coming down this afternoon and GP did a phone consult - she said new temperature/coughs had to be isolated for 7 days under the new guidance. So we have no nursery next week

Stuckinstressville · 13/03/2020 16:51

Good, so behave as normal and keep him away from people for a week...noted. Poor chap.

Working from Home conference calls will be fun next week as he is 2 !

It’s not just keep him away from people. Both you and him and anyone else who hasn’t fully self isolated eg cleaning bathroom between use and keeping 2m apart needs to self isolate that means stay in your house and garden for 7 days.
