Are you immune once you've had CV?

Government is claiming they want herd immunity.

But I'm pretty certain that there is no proof yet that once you've had CV- 19 you're actually immune.

Does anyone have any links to scientific evidence surrounding this?

i was wondering the same thing! i hope someone knows the answer

I'm sur there was a report of someone having it twice - will see if I can find the article.

We don't know. Some people tested positive, recovered and tested negative only to retest positive months later. It could be biphasic or it could mutate like the flu. You can't have herd immunity if it acts like the flu because it mutates every year which is why we all need a new flu shot every year. It's simply too new for anyone to know. In order to get herd immunity most of the population would have to get it which would be the mortality rate somewhere close to half a million. It's a ludicrous plan.

Lots of stories about people being reinfected after recovering but they may never have actually recovered.

My understanding is that one rarely develops long-standing immunity to coronaviruses.

NellyGrace · 13/03/2020 10:31

There has been a report about that. It was a while ago - in China I think.

It was surmised that the person got two different strains- but seems to have been forgotten about.

I don't think they probably know yet. It seems to be left out from conversations in the media.

This is my thoughts exactly. Lots of talk of creating herd immunity. But we may not be immune. They can’t possibly know that for sure.

Blueberryham · 13/03/2020 10:33

Also we are basically subjecting the rest of the world to this approach. This should have been agreed with world health organisation

Said on Sky News that chief scientist was saying it would come around again year on year
