I have a a dentist appt today but I've woken up this morning with a high temp, no cough, but I'm confused, is that grounds to self isolate?! I know they said high temp or cough. Is it just me that find all this confusing?

You must cancel. Advice is to self isolate if you have a fever.

You should self-isolate. It's either symptom, not necessarily both. Hope you feel better soon.

No you self isolate, ring the dentist and tell them, they won't want you to come in with a temperature anyway.

Cancel and explain.

I hope you are ok.

Nothing to be confused about. A high temperature always calls for cancelling.

Even with no coronavirus around why would an adult go anywhere with a high temp?!

Adults dont get them very often and they are not a good sign

Would you have gone with a high temperature normally?

Why would you go to the dentist with a high temp? Are you in pain and need urgent treatment?

What is your 'high' temperature exactly?

No, you shouldn't go. I haven't an dental appointment next week and they asked me a load of questions regarding fever, travel etc and told me to cancel if I get ANY of the symptoms mentioned.

Don't go. It's not really confusing, it's pretty simple. If you have a temperature you self isolate for 7 days at least.

No appointment, no work, just stay in.

Of course you cancel - CV or not is irrelevant! Hmm do grown ups really need to be told this stuff?

Oh dear. I am surprised you need to ask.

The rules are being banged into us. This is very worrying that some people are not processing or listening to the latest advice

Coronavirus or not you shouldn't be going to the Dentist if you have a temperature.

Unless the reason you are going to the dentist is for an abscess or something which may have become infected...

If it is a routine appt then cancel and isolate.

If the reason you are going may be linked to the temperature then phone the dentist for advice.

Of course you cancel, you have a high temp and must now isolate.

You say "it's confusing" but the guidance given yesterday evening was VERY clear. If you have a temp, you'll have to self isolate. If you have a cough, you'll have to self isolate.

Of course you need to cancel your appointment and then stay in for 7 days.

Thanks everyone. Didn't mean to sound and come across dense or irresponsible. I've called and explained and they've rearranged my appointment to next month.
I get high temp often usually when I'm due on or get run down after a stressful/anxious day which I did have yesterday.

Cancel. Even if it's nothing serious, you could pass it on to the dentist, nurses, and patients there.

The appt was to remove an impacted wisdom tooth.

High temp OR cough. Simple.

Are they doing this advice in lots of languages so that all communities understand? Serious question.

That’s going to be a nightmare for you OP if you regularly get high temperatures.

Report
Toto12345 · 13/03/2020 08:37

@ineedaholidaynow yeah, I guess that's why I was asking cause I do get run down once or twice a month. It's been that was since I was 18 and diagnosed with Generalised anxiety disorder. I'm a sahm so I dont have to worry about work atm but I've now also cancelled any appts I have this coming week.

If you're feeling 'run down' then apart from the possibility of you spreading something to the dentist and other patients, you may be more likely to pick something up, especially if you're having a procedure like wisdom tooth extraction. Good decision to cancel. Hope the tooth isn't too painful meanwhile. Thanks

How high a temp to you get when you’re stressed etc? Just being nosy.

This is the consequence of the governments “plan of inaction”.
People with a fever considering whether it’s still “business as usual”. Just please people stay indoors if at all possible and please don’t get on planes to countries with governments that actually are trying to bring down the number of cases and are trying to protect their elderly and vulnerable citizens as best they can.
