Toddler isolation

My 2yr old DS (in nursery) gets a fever pretty much every month, picks up all kind of bugs and rashes from nursery. Are we to self isolate every time he gets a fever because it might be coronavirus?
And he’s always coughing. Do I isolate him when he gets every cough?
I’ve become a bit coronavirus obsessed, but I can’t find any help online. How will I know once he gets coronavirus, that it’s that and not some other childhood illness he’s likely to pick up?
It’s going to be like this for at least the next 2 months and I’m just stressing myself out thinking about how much time I’m going to have to take off work and isolate him 😟 Anyone else in the same position/worried?

The nursery won't accept him for 7 days I would imagine.

It is tough. I remember how much my youngest was I'll at that age and that was without the worry of CV.

Sorry I'm not really helping much but I really do think you will have to keep him off for 7 days each time.

We are the same and I don't know what to do. My toddler has had a cough since before Christmas. I'm hoping nursery know it's not a new cough. We could end up in a lot of debt if I have to stay off with her and pay the fees but I imagine they will be really strict and I do understand why.

I think it’s the lack of information that’s stressing me out so much. And also having to isolate myself every time with DS is going to be difficult for him and me. Thankfully work are being really good about me working from home.
I just wanted to raise the topic because I’m sure there’s a lot of parents out there in the same position. I’ve already decided we’re going to keep our distance from shopping centres and big crowds and cafes/restaurants. I’ve got a few elderly relatives we see every week, and I don’t want to infect them.
I think we will all need to be supportive and understanding of each other in the coming months.
And thanks for replying - first time poster 😊

Yes you would need to self-isolate every time.

Cough or temperature needs to stay at home for 7 days, currently if you don't had symptoms there's nothing stopping you going out (assuming you're not a single parent)

I have 2 DCs at nursery and a lung condition which makes me high risk. Praying that other parents and their children are sensible and not selfish regarding self isolating, each time their DC has a temp or a cough. If I lose faith that others will follow the rules then I’m going to be stuck indoors isolating with 2 DCs under 4, full time for months 😭

Yes. But then we are all meant to be self isolating for 5 days with the flu and 48 hours from the last symptom of a vomiting and diarrhoea too. So I don't expect many will stick to it. Which considering 7 days sounds pretty minimal and we could be having school closures seems highly reasonable to me. But then I never bend the flu/S&D rules either. A lot of people seem to be a lot more blasé about other people's Health than I am.

Sorry, I meant before the Coronavirus they were the nhs recommendations
