Are you basically avoiding unnecessary contact at the moment?

Supermarket this evening seemed really quiet - like most people had been and got their stuff. A very strange atmosphere.

I have been avoiding 'social' things out of work as much as possible - that's basically things that I don't have to do. Work, school run and supermarket. If I need to.

I wonder how many other people are doing that?

Yes we are. Only go to the shops if really needed.

dementedpixie · 12/03/2020 21:40

I've been at the gym and supermarket

BeardedMum · 12/03/2020 21:40

Yes isolating as much as possible

MidsummerMeadow · 12/03/2020 21:41

Yes, have been for a few weeks now.

Beesisabuzzin · 12/03/2020 21:41

Definitely dialling it back here. Disgusted by the amount of people out coughing and spluttering.

Nochangeplease · 12/03/2020 21:42

Work with children. I’ve accepted the fact this is my biggest risk so going about life as normal.

chomalungma · 12/03/2020 21:43

I was at the gym yesterday.

That's on my 'not sure' list. I would miss it.

No. Been to gym every day, out for lunch/dinner/drinks, a gig and coffee shop.
Had nails done today, hairdressers Saturday and facial booked for next week.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 12/03/2020 21:43

Given my kids are in big schools we arent at the moment. If schools closed we might.
Been to activities tonight.

Supposed to go to theme parks at easter. Possibly rethinking that...

onalongsabbatical · 12/03/2020 21:43

Yes but it is relatively easy for me. I really feel for the many, many people who have to do things like get the tube every day and sit in crowded offices.

megletthesecond · 12/03/2020 21:44

Yes. No gym tomorrow, it's a packed class usually. I don't work Fridays so I can nip to the shops when it's fairly quiet.
I even sat as far away as possible from my colleagues in a small meeting room today. They know I'm paranoid 😁.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/03/2020 21:47

I teach, so no option to work from home, and contact with hundreds of people daily. I wish I could limit contact, but no choice.

Pinkiespalace · 12/03/2020 21:48

Yes. I’m working from home and majority of groceries online. Been staying away from coffee shops, salons etc for a few weeks now. May go somewhere remote for a walk at the weekend

Axlcat · 12/03/2020 21:48

Yep. Started working from home last week and only going out to the local shop. That’s going to stop soon too as I’m ordering in from now on. Partner doing the same. Recent MS diagnosis (2 weeks ago!) is making me extra cautious and pretty scared of catching it.

Devlesko · 12/03/2020 21:48

yep, although I went to Tesco today.
No toilet roll, but I'm well prepared really.

It was very quiet, I thought it would be busy as parents usually go before collecting kids from 2 nearby schools.

Apart from this I haven't been out for ages, seen the odd family member and of course dh.

NewYearNewTwatName · 12/03/2020 21:51

Yes have been for a while work and stables(horse wouldn't fair well if I didn't turn up) That's about it.

DC are at school and college though.

Roselilly36 · 12/03/2020 21:53

@Axlcat. Sorry to hear of your recent MS dx, I also have MS dx 2012, I am limiting contact with people, going to speak to my MS nurse for advice. Good luck.

friendineed · 12/03/2020 21:55

Nope. Did the huggy kissy thing with a (admittedly foreign) member of our hobby club.

Axlcat · 12/03/2020 22:01

@Roselilly36 thank you - it’s all so new to me and only just coming to terms with it. I don’t even have an MS nurse yet or a point of contact even. They just gave me the diagnosis and pretty much sent me on my way! Confused

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 12/03/2020 22:02

Yes. Taken kids out of school, self isolating at home. We'll go out for walks etc, but be careful and not attend any events etc.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 12/03/2020 22:03
  • Judy, I really feel for people who would like to avoid contact but can't. My thinking was largely that as I can wfh and look after kids at same time, doing so should hopefully ease the burden on those who need to be out working.
CherryPavlova · 12/03/2020 22:04

Reducing but not isolating. Going to London tomorrow and then will work from home entirely for next fortnight. Online shopping mainly. Walking dog where it’s quiet. Using Skype a lot.
Going to book club because it’s a small number. Meals with friends in their houses but no cinema, no theatre, no shopping trips.
Children staying away to reduce risks.

Pandamoore · 12/03/2020 22:06

Yup. I'll nip to the shop on the odd occasion if needs be but that'll be all. I pretty much keep myself to myself anyway though so really not much change lol.

MadamePewter · 12/03/2020 22:07

No, just carrying on within the guidelines

Porcupineinwaiting · 12/03/2020 22:07

We've cut back on contact - I now take the car to work rather than the bus, dh's work are holding a lot of meetings by Skype rather than getting people together from different offices, no cinema, late night shopping etc. But we are both going into work and kids to school so not minimal contact by any means.
