Would you go to a holiday park this weekend?

Is it a terrible idea? Caravan not hotel but does have swimming pool etc.

I would, but avoid crowded places. Apparently, the swimming pool is safe (chlorine kills most things), but you risk exposure in the changing rooms.

We were due to go to a holiday site at Easter. I think it will be shut, by that point...

Actionhasmagic · 12/03/2020 20:55

I would not risk it with up to 10,000 cases

Slat3 · 12/03/2020 20:56

We are going next weekend. We will be going, unless it’s shut.

Ifeel1000yearsold · 12/03/2020 21:16

We are planning on going. Unless anything changes drastically tomorrow

Currently staying at butlins. There is so much hand sanitiser on Park it's unreal!! Staff ask u to pump as u come in and out of restaurants and all menus are cleaned once u've looked at them!!

In the assumption ur not an "at risk" person (over 60 with pre-existing health issues) I would suggest it's no worse than going to high school everyday and sitting in assembly.

Janaih · 12/03/2020 21:37

Going next week, unless the park is shut.

hilbil21 · 12/03/2020 22:28

We are supposed to be going to a haven Park next weekend with my in laws. FIL is 64, with COPD and heart failure. Would you think it's best he doesn't go?? Even if he stayed in caravan all weekend it's still quite risky I feel Confused

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/03/2020 22:31

@hilbil21 with that medical history, your FIL should be self-isolating imo. I'm just about to have that conversation with my mother, who has a similar background.

hilbil21 · 12/03/2020 22:34

Would you say he should be self isolating from everyone apart from his wife (they live together in a flat) so myself, my husband and 4 year old not seeing him? Or just self isolating from outside world. I think probably the former, but don't know if I'm being OTT

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/03/2020 23:12

@hilbil21 that's honestly the bit I don't know. I'm wanting her to not go into public places, but I don't know if we should stop going in and out. My DS is 14 and of course schools are germ buckets, DH works in a big office...

hilbil21 · 12/03/2020 23:14

It's so hard to know what to do for the best, especially as apparently children are more likely to be asymptomatic! Absolute nightmare

thefourgp · 12/03/2020 23:17

Not a chance. I’m not worried about myself but my mum has poor health and I’m worried about catching it and passing it onto her. With the exception of work and the supermarket we’re going to be spending a lot of time at home in the next few weeks. Going to a holiday park is not a good idea.

SaigonSaigon · 12/03/2020 23:21

@hilbil21 from what I last remember hearing self-isolating means staying at home with whoever you live with and seeing no-one else at all. If you then test positive for Corona you can stay in same house as someone without the virus but need to be contained in your own well ventilated room, use of own bathroom ideally or use it last and have own towels and toiletries until virus has passed. Food left outside room for you, etc.

Davidbowiestrousers · 12/03/2020 23:58

Don't know how to tag but. @NChangeForNoReason.can you tell me a bit more about butlins (we are booked for next week and I don't want go but OH does).
Is everything regularly cleaned? Do you feel safe and looked after?

salsmum · 13/03/2020 02:51

My son is in Butlins working on a show and he FaceTimed me the other day and showed me all the mattresses thrown out ( over balconies) where every room was being changed and cleaned to a high standard.

NChangeForNoReason · 13/03/2020 07:29

I've been to many different holiday parks and this by far the cleanest I've ever been to!

We had a standard apartment and it was immaculate for cleanliness ... even under the sofas (I checked!)

I've had no reason to complain about anything so unsure how they would deal with that however based on restaurant customer service I should imagine nothing is too much trouble.

It's my first time Butlins and Sometimes I can be hard to please but I feel they have definitely got it right.
