Fine line between sensible precautions and panic

I’ve started to feel unwell today. Sticky yellow snot, very slight sore throat. No cough, don’t think any fever (will take temp when home). Haven’t travelled recently but do get the train everyday which goes from airport to city centre.

Should I be isolating? It feels like a massive overreaction to do so given I don’t have the headline Coronavirus symptoms, but I fear too many people are underreacting rather than the opposite...

I wouldn't in those circumstances, no. Sounds more like a cold. If you had a fever and a cough it would be different.

That’s what I’m thinking - was feeling fine about that but on other threads people are taking a much more cautious approach. I literally only started feeling unwell today so hopefully it will become clear one way or the other over the weekend.

If it was me I’d be isolating but feel free to ignore me entirely as I’m currently feeling very scared about everything and not my most rational.

I just think - if you do have just a cold, what’s the worst that could happen if you isolate?

And if it’s not just a cold, what’s the worst that could happen if you don’t isolate?

Much more severe potential consequences for the second choice.

Plus if it is just a cold at least you won’t spread that around either.

It's a cold.
