School briefing

We’ve had a briefing in school today with Head and Head of Governors about Coronavirus.

We were told that if we closed early for Easter/after Easter the time off would likely be taken back next year by deducting two weeks off the various holidays.

I’m not paid for my holidays so effectively I’d be working two unpaid extra weeks next year. If we close early, it’s not holiday as we can’t do anything that we’d normally do and I wouldn’t choose to have two extra weeks off this year.

What’s your thoughts?

As a governor I'd be raising hell on behalf of the staff for that personally. Don't think our school would do it though - we really do value the staff.

Union!! Quickly.

Blackdog19 · 12/03/2020 16:46

That’s awful- as said above speak to Union?

Humina · 12/03/2020 16:46

I don't think that is at all fair and I'd think the unions would have something to say.

Also, some parents would probably be outraged.

Glad to see some people agree with me. I thought maybe I was being a bit unreasonable.

Yes people have already mentioned the Union.

Surely the school will be expecting teachers to continue doing at least some work while the school is closed - setting work for pupils online and that sort of thing, so it's not a holiday anyway.

I’m a TA. But this was a blanket briefing with teachers too.
