Should I go?

I'm very aware of getting sucked into hysteria. I'm also aware of under reacting.
I have a 3 month old DS. We've been invited to a wedding. We agreed to go months ago. It's up north and there have been cases confirmed in Grampian. I'm not sure if we should go or not. We'll be staying with PIL. MIL is a nurse but as far as we know has not come into contact with any cases. I don't know if we should go or cancel and offer to pay for our meals? We won't be travelling by public transport but there will obviously be a large group of people attending that we don't know.

I would go.

Reallyweirditems · 13/03/2020 13:05

I would go.

Beldon · 13/03/2020 13:40

I wouldn’t go. Especially with a 3 month old. Children might not get it as severe or it be life threatening but can you imagine your baby coughing and struggling to breath. My baby is a few months older and I’m terrified. Also at that age everyone wants to touch them and hold them.

Doyoumind · 13/03/2020 13:42

Go. How big is the wedding even? The chances of getting it now are very still slim. By the time they are high, weddings won't be taking place.

amazedmummy · 13/03/2020 20:19

Thanks everyone. I think I'm leaning towards going. I'd be upset if everyone had bailed on my wedding. I can't imagine it's a huge wedding.

You should go!

A random film or theatre trip- don't go.

A wedding- definitely go!

The risk at the moment is minimal. You'll be able to come home if you feel poorly while away (unlike a trip abroad which would worry me).

Go, help the, celebrate, have a great time.

PlywoodPlank · 13/03/2020 20:41

How old are your PIL?

amazedmummy · 13/03/2020 21:08

PILs are in their 60s.

The only thing that would be a challenge if we don't feel well is that it's about a 3 hour drive and DH can't drive so I need to be up to it.

There's no way I'd go to wedding right now though I'm sure plenty would. You have to do what you feel comfortable with.

AccountAntsy · 14/03/2020 05:16

I would go.

squeekums · 14/03/2020 05:46

id go

geojojo · 14/03/2020 05:56

I would go but I'm sure the couple would understand that they are likely to have people drop out and the reasons why.

yikesanotherbooboo · 14/03/2020 06:54

Go.

buckeejit · 14/03/2020 06:55

Absolutely not. When is the wedding?

SegregateMumBev · 14/03/2020 06:56

When is it?

amazedmummy · 14/03/2020 07:12

The wedding is on Friday.

OP posts:
buckeejit · 14/03/2020 18:42

No. Spreading time is now, you'll be a bit clearer on Friday & there's a chance they might cancel the wedding.

If I'm honest & they don't, I might just say I had to self isolate as a precaution as I had developed a cough.

I know it's not nice but this is going to get worse & worse

amazedmummy · 14/03/2020 18:58

I've set myself a deadline of Monday to decide so they're not having people drop out on the day.

buckeejit · 14/03/2020 21:30

Sounds sensible

amazedmummy · 17/03/2020 11:12

They've been able to postpone so we might make it after all.
