I'm supposed to be doing this journey on Sat for one night.

Train from york to Kings cross then tubes to Kensington.

Out for dinner, then club. Then overnight in a hotel.

My DH and DM think I'm bonkers for going.

I really don't know what to do...

Personally I wouldnt. Too much close contact and public transport

Pluckedpencil · 12/03/2020 13:51

Well would you do it if someone told you there was someone on the train with it? And there's your answer! Because there probably is!

JoyceTempleSavage · 12/03/2020 13:56

I went down on the train to london on Monday on what is normally a packed train and it was 20% full. However mainly business travellers so maybe more caution in place than travel for pleasure? Tubes also quieter than normal.

Personally I probably would still go and wear disposable gloves across London

BearBearBearBear · 12/03/2020 14:04

I've just spoken to a friend and he's no longer going to use the tube and his works head office has closed for 2 weeks and they're all working from home.

I think if I'm sensible I'm going to give it a miss. I think I'm more concerned of passing it on or getting stuck down there.

I still have to get the train into London every day for work, personally I don't see the big deal about going.

NotDavidTennant · 12/03/2020 14:19

If it's this Saturday I would go. There are still only 460 confirmed cases in a country of 70 million people. The chances of you encountering it at the moment are extremely low.

FrenchJunebug · 12/03/2020 14:40

IT'S FINE! Enjoy yourself.

BearBearBearBear · 13/03/2020 11:59

Bumping for more opinions as I'm still undecided..

I live on the outskirts of London and I'm not using public transport at all at the moment.

There are likely a lot more people with the virus than the confirmed cases, yesterday they said likely at least 5-10k in total. Obviously the chances of someone being on your train is still low but is it a risk worth taking...

onalongsabbatical · 13/03/2020 12:12

I wouldn't. And this morning a London tube driver has tested positive and the various transport unions are clamouring for better advice and guidance.

WokClock · 13/03/2020 12:21

I think it depends on your family situation. I would do this because I think that the trains will be quite empty. I am still going to the supermarket, the kids are still going to school so I could catch it from anywhere. We are all healthy with no underlying conditions.

If I however had any health issues, or if my family did, then I wouldn’t go.

To the pp who said that there were only 460 confirmed cases, did you not listen to Boris yesterday?
