Does everyone get a fever?

Feeling dreadful-coughing, short of breath, headache, sore throat, ear ache, aching all over and just generally wiped out. BUT I don't have a fever. Don't really want to put pressure on 111 if it's the case that without a fever it won't be Coronavirus. Does anyone know?

Oh and I haven't been to one of the high risk areas but I have been to London and have had lots of meetings. No idea if I've been in contact with anyone with the virus.

You could try doing the 111 online COVID questionnaire.

111.nhs.uk/covid-19

I haven't done it myself but have heard it mentioned somewhere.

I have had similar with only mild temperature. I live in an area with multiple confirmed cases and commute on public transport in London. Despite all this and being immunosupressed 111 refused to swab. Apparently only confirmed contact with confirmed case = testing. So I guess many people could have it and are busy spreading it. Husband now has what I have. I have been ill two weeks, in bed for one. Feeling quite exasperated really.

Nekoness · 12/03/2020 09:10

No. I read that out of the 80-something percent of mild cases, about 20% are asymptomatic (show no symptoms at all). I read if you have a runny nose and/or runny eyes, then that’s a common cold. I’ve not seen either of those listed as a symptom. But other than that... 🤷‍♀️

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 12/03/2020 09:14

The online thing is useless. You can have all the symptoms but if you've not travelled or been in contact with a known case, you don't get tested.
The people with covid in my area could have been the one to push my trolley last, stood next to me at the carpark machine coughing, been squashed next to my partner on the train commute. No wonder its increasing so quickly.
I also have sore throat, ears, head, teeth feel like they don't belong to me and low grade temp. Feel like I've been walking miles and I've only come downstairs.

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 12/03/2020 09:14

Not snotty at all though.

Call 111 and ask for a CV test

sqirrelfriends · 12/03/2020 09:15

I've heard such conflicting reports of what the symptoms are but apparently not everyone does get a fever.

I've had something similar and the 111 online rolls told me not to bother calling as I had why been to any risky areas. Best you can do is stay at home and try not to pass it on, rumour is the government will ask anyone with any respiratory illness to self-isolate from today.

I hope you feel better soon.

Spam88 · 12/03/2020 09:19

Given you don't have the symptoms of coronavirus and do ha be the symptoms of a cold or flu, both of which are far more prevalent that CV, I'd assume you've got one of those.

SpeckledFrogsLog · 12/03/2020 09:20

Yes I did the online test but as a PP said it you're not exhibiting all of the symptoms and haven't travelled to one of the high risk areas or been in contact with a known case then they won't test. I'm not worried for myself but MIL is having chemotherapy and relies on me and DH for a lot of support.

I'm sorry OP, I share your worries and am terrified of passing it on to an elderly relative.

Is there someone else who can support your MIL while you recover?
