I've spent three weeks honeymooning in Thailand looks like while I've been away the virus has exploded in the UK

Thailand Is a high risk area I've been to 4 diffent parts so have been in and out or airports and according to the NHS website it is advised to self isolate when returning from this country but the official advice from the FCO is only to self isolate if you feel symptoms

Tbh I feel fine I'm a bit achey but could be due to a 14 hour flight
When entering public places here they check your tempature and mine has been fine

I work.in a huge office with over a hundred people on my floor would you feel comfortable working around me ? Wwyd?

Self isolate. Tell your company ASAP & find out what the current policy is.

ChangingStates · 12/03/2020 05:34

Let your HR/ manager advise- however they should follow nhs and tell you to isolate. The nhs guidance is what we are following at work for travel.
Hope you had a lovely honeymoon!

Email your HR, line manager or H&S person. Who depends on how the company is set up.

Ask their advice

PatricksRum · 12/03/2020 06:32

Self isolate.

HoneyBee03 · 12/03/2020 06:34

I wouldn't mind being around you if you don't have symptoms. I've been around a few people who have recently got home from Thailand and Vietnam and they're all following the advice to isolate if you have symptoms, but they're all fine.

PurpleDaisies · 12/03/2020 06:34

Follow the advice of Public Health England.

Hugglespuffed · 12/03/2020 06:40

I had no idea Thailand was a high risk area?

PurpleDaisies · 12/03/2020 06:43

It’s on the list of places where you must self isolate if you get symptoms, along with thirteen other countries. I don’t know whether “high risk” is quite the right term for it. It isn’t one of the ones where you have to isolate regardless of whether you’re ill.

Undecided91 · 12/03/2020 06:46

Yet we have HR lady flying TO Thailand next week for holiday. She must be doing it so she could get extra 2 weeks of self isolation afterwards.... You definetely should self isolate when you come back

PurpleDaisies · 12/03/2020 06:48

You definetely should self isolate when you come back.

That’s not correct. You have to self isolate if you get symptoms. Look at the official link I posted.

JemimaPuddleCat · 12/03/2020 06:49

Can you isolate for a couple of days to see if the achiness improves? I'd imagine it's just from the journey you'll know soon.

Newnamewhodis1 · 12/03/2020 06:49

Advice re self isolation is only to do it if you have symptoms. Unless your company says otherwise - some have. Pretty sure they've had less cases than the UK...

Hugglespuffed · 12/03/2020 07:11

@Undecided91 with all due respect, your HR lady is doing nothing wrong. Thailand are on 70 cases (and is a huge place!) We are in a worse position in the UK. Your HR lady has probably spent a lot of money on flights there and it isn't a high risk place at all.

Tdaadfb100 · 12/03/2020 07:12

I’ve just come in from Macau. It’s on the list too, although there are NO cases there anymore and no new cases for over a month.
I’m more likely to catch it here!

Lyricallie · 12/03/2020 07:13

Yes please check government information. Thailand is category two. Where you only isolate of you show any symptoms. I've been checking the government site daily on it as I'm supposed to be going too for my honeymoon in 5 weeks.
