I'm pretty sure it's just a cold, started this afternoon with a slight sore throat.

Any advice?

Have you been in close contact with someone who is likely to have coronavirus? Like, someone who has recently travelled from somewhere there are confirmed cases? If not, its probasbly just a cold, so if you'd normally go to work; go to work.

PurpleCrocus2020 · 11/03/2020 21:14

I’d call work for advice before going in.

Pud2 · 11/03/2020 21:14

There’s some useful info about the difference between cold/flu/corona on the internet. Symptoms are different so have a look. One distinctive feature seems to be that you don’t have a snotty nose with Corona.

Normally, yes.
This week? No. Call in sick.

SauvignonBlanche · 11/03/2020 21:17

Yes, I would.

HappyHammy · 11/03/2020 21:17

Not at the moment. No one will appreciate you being there. Stay home and get well.

MaccaPacca81 · 11/03/2020 21:22

We're being told to WFH with even mild cold symptoms now.

ICloud54 · 11/03/2020 21:23

I've not been in contact with anyone who has been abroad etc that I know of.

I would have normally gone in with a cold but I'm just overly anxious to be honest.
Some people were sneezing in the office today and everyone was raising eyebrows (understandably)

Yes and I have the last 3 days.
It's a cold. I know it's a cold.

I just have the people I was due to home visit the option of cancelling as I always do if I have a cold. Half cancelled and half didn't.

If you take time off now with a cold you'll be on shakier ground if you do get Clovid.

I started a sore throat yesterday and went into work. Yesterday evening I felt worse with my head full of cotton wool. Last night I couldn’t sleep as suddenly really snotty. And by first thing today my sore throat was worse and I had started coughing.

I had a really important client meeting. Ordinarily I’d have braved it. I decided during the night when waking up coughing and spluttering that I wasn’t going to go in, as I wouldn’t thank anyone for going in coughing and spluttering.

I felt dreadful and joined the meeting via conference call. No one even asked how I was, I’m worried in case they thought I was skiving! I feel worse again tonight so will work from home tomorrow as well.

MajesticWhine · 11/03/2020 22:54

Yes I would, and have. There's been a cold going round at work and we have huge numbers off sick. No one has coronavirus. I can't bring myself to stay off with a fairly minor cold. I am not sneezing or coughing.

megletthesecond · 11/03/2020 22:55

Not at the moment.

idontlike789 · 11/03/2020 23:01

Symptoms are a fever and a dry cough you have a cold go to work .

MrsHoolie · 11/03/2020 23:28

I have a cold and have been going to work. No fever but started with a sore throat and snotty nose.

squeekums · 11/03/2020 23:55

Yep, a cold means life as usual

polkadotpixie · 12/03/2020 00:20

Yes. I had an awful cold last week and still went in as we're really short staffed and going off sick with a cold would have gone down like a lead balloon!

I've not been abroad or had contact with anyone who has either. Also, I was full of snot which isn't a Coronavirus symptom so I was certain it was just a cold, especially as my toddler had just got over it

Did get some funny looks on the bus though!

Onandonandons · 12/03/2020 00:22

Yes, I did today.

DressingGownofDoom · 12/03/2020 00:39

Yes until told otherwise. If High temp though stay at home.

DesperateElf · 12/03/2020 00:43

Not this week, no! I'd stay at home.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 12/03/2020 00:49

all the advice I have seen has been if you don't have a temperature then you are fine.
