Store cupboard recipe ideas for self isolation

Like many of you I am finally caving to the pressure and doing a "big" shop at the weekend "just in case"

So was hoping you could all inspire me with some ideas for recipes for store cupboard meals. As someone who loves to meal plan but does a weekly shop, have no idea what to buy if buying dinners for the long term.

Obviously I will batch cook some meals but would like some ideas using ingredients that don't need to be fresh especially as I am hearing my local shop is now low on fresh goods!

Thank you!

Pasta with pasta sauce, or make your sauce using chopped tomatoes and herbs

Pesto Pasta

Tuna Pasta

Lentil curry and rice

Tinned soup or make your own lentil soup. Serve with bread toasted straight from the freezer

Buy some frozen mince and/or Quorn to make spag bol, lasagne, or chili con carne with rice

Mixed bean chilli - it's the 3rd recipe on this link - www.itv.com/thismorning/food/three-great-meals-from-your-freezer-and-store-cupboard-phil-vickery-recipes

Noodles mixed with frozen veg, you can use jarred Chinese sauces to flavour

Thanks @Namechanger20183110 - like the Phil Vickery recipes! Think I have to batch cook a pile of my pasta sauce the kids like (Annabel Karmel) aswell, they would gladly live in that and pasta forever but they hate tuna and pesto unfortunately!!

I quite often do pasta bakes at this time of year. My DP doesn’t eat fish, but if he did I would do tuna, otherwise we have:

Chorizo and broccoli, in a tomato sauce

Chicken and broccoli, in a creamy sauce

You could use frozen chicken, broccoli, onions, and garlic if need be. The chicken one is supposed to have ricotta cheese (I think it was a Jamie Oliver recipe originally) but I’ve done it with cheddar and parmesan if pushed.

Also with chorizo, I do a pasta thing with red peppers, an onion, tinned tomatoes, frozen peas, and chilli flakes. Or sub out the pasta for butter beans.

Chorizo is probably a good shout (if you like it, obviously!) because it keeps forever, and you don’t need much of it to get a strong flavour.

My DP makes a brilliant carbonara which is literally a couple of eggs, garlic, pancetta and parmesan, with spaghetti. I feel the same about pancetta as chorizo.

Love chorizo personally but family member allergic to pork Shock

Not trying to be awkward honestly!! And thanks we do love broccoli in this house so will try that one if there is still broccoli to be had! Might revert to frozen.

Actually, it’s this recipe that I adapted because I am not keen on leeks.

Corned beef hash
Sweetcorn fritters
Fishcakes - use Tinned fish and potatoes
Squash curry using coconut milk - squashes last months in the cupboard

Tuna pasta bake - pasta, tin tuna, tinned or frozen sweetcorn or peas, tinned cream of mushroom soup. Top with grated parmesan and/or breadcrumbs, both of which can be frozen.
Frozen chicken breast, chorizo, pasta, tomato based pasta sauce of your choice. Any other Mediterranean style veg that you like. Pretty good pasta bake.
Rice pudding/chocolate rice pudding. Totally doable with powdered milk - lots of supermarkets do skimmed milk powder, usually in the aisle with tinned fruit, custard, evaporated milk etc. Put chunks of chocolate in it, or alternatively, dried fruit like raisins, apricots etc. Good to round out an otherwise meagre meal.
Easy peasy pasta - totally inspired by the Bing episode. Pasta, boiled in a pan with any veg you like (peas, broccoli, carrots, etc). Drain into a colander. Quickly add some cream cheese (really long shelf life if unopened), crushed garlic, salt & pepper, herbs etc. Heat gently until it goes creamy, add water or milk if necessary to prevent it burning. When melted, add the veg & pasta back, & mix in.

YY to squash lasting months. I just ate one this week, bought it in about September & it got forgotten.

I saw a cookbook about this sort of thing in our library - Tin Can Cook by Jack Monroe.
It’s based around recipes using tinned food so might be worth checking out?
