I am due to go on holiday to France at the beginning of April. Of course things will have changed by then, but would you go?

Most concerned about getting stuck there.

I would be surprised if you have a decision to make tbh. I think the authorities either here or there will have stopped unnecessary travel by then.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/03/2020 19:40

No.
Not travelling unless essential, is a big part of limiting spread.

Aquamarine1029 · 10/03/2020 19:41

It will be worse by then. No way.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 10/03/2020 19:48

We’re having a family celebration this weekend which will include elderly parents and young children. Husband wants to postpone to avoid anyone catching the Coronavirus (mainly because they’ve been told today to cancel events/meetings etc). I don’t want to let everyone down that’s looking forward to coming and think that unless we are self isolating we should go ahead. What do we do?

Gemzee · 10/03/2020 19:49

I asked the exact same question here a few days ago. I am definitely leaning towards cancelling but hoping that the decision is taken out of my hands by then.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 10/03/2020 19:50

Sorry posted in wrong bit 🤪

AnguaResurgam · 10/03/2020 19:52

Young children are lowest risk.

Elderly parents should be consulted.

The coming couple of weekends may be the last safe(ish) chance in several weeks or even months, given the possible extension of social distancing and self isolation

PrincessHoneysuckle · 10/03/2020 19:53

We have a break booked to ibiza in april. We will be going unless the authorities say we cant.

madcatladyforever · 10/03/2020 19:53

No I think it's incredibly selfish for anyone to travel right now. All holidays should be cancelled until the danger is over. This is how we got into this mess. Everyone travelling all over the world and spreading it everywhere.
I'm really concerned this is going to cause another recession.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/03/2020 19:58

I agree completely with madcatlady
It is easy to only think of the risk to oneself and one’s family I know, but we also have to think of the risk we pose to others.
I live in a rural place near the sea. Lots of older people, no hospital close by, healthcare a problem. I think we will be inundated over Easter, and then have a huge number of cases afterwards, meaning that people die.

Writersblock2 · 10/03/2020 21:47

Like others have said, I imagine by then the decision will be out of your hands. However, I would say no. We are due to go to Poland and we have cancelled.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 10/03/2020 21:54

I would go, unless the travel had been banned at either end.

IrenetheQuaint · 10/03/2020 22:04

I suspect France will have implemented some form of shutdown by then, based on the current evidence. I'd avoid spending any more money on the holiday as it probably won't be feasible.

AlexaShutUp · 10/03/2020 22:08

I think the choice will be taken away from you by that time.
