Self isolating for all symptoms within the next two weeks

Just reading the latest announcement that in the next couple weeks they might want anyone displaying symptoms to start self isolating. They're talking about runny nose even though this is an atypical symptom. Anyone wondering how this is going to work in reality? I appreciate its to keep anyone in that might have corona and fully understand the reasoning behind it. Folk might not know if their cold is covid 19. But another week or two and my hay-fever will probably start up. Sneezing and coughing for months. Are they really expecting people like me to self isolate for all that time, when I know its not corona causing my symptoms?

Don't underestimate how extremely socially unacceptable it could be about to become, to be out and about and at work with any kind of respiratory symptoms

I agree. We’re going to see people being driven crazy with paranoia. Shouting/fighting in streets and everything.

I’m a childminder, if I said this hardly any of my 15-20month olds would turn up!
A mom was chatting to me on the school run this evening. She works in a local nursery they had 6 children in their pre school today (instead of 32!) all off with colds, sore throats, and coughs.
I appreciate the caution but kids are permanently snotty October-April!

Hi, I'm really concerned. I have suffered with asthma for over 20 years (I am now 49), I am called in for a flu vaccine because of this each year, I take a preventer morning and night and have a stabiliser if needed. (I also have a sinus issue - nasal polyps and a non-respiratory condition of lymphoedema following cancer operations years ago). I work in admin in a hospital and contacted our Occupational Health last week to say I am very anxious about being in work and catching the virus as I have suffered asthma attacks previous and it is extremely frightening. They said I am not very high risk , I am just high risk therefore as long as I am care in work keep my distance I should be okay to work. My manager said I cannot make my own decision to stay off so have to still come in. though all clinics, etc have been cancelled and a lot of us are scratching around for work. I also live with my 78 year old Dad and would hate to catch anything and pass this on to him as we recently lost my mother (non-coronavirus related) on Xmas Eve so its just me and my Dad now. Any advice would be great. I don't even care if I dont get paid I am that concerned about my asthma causing complications if I catch this. The 2 wards right by my office already have a few patients suspected to have Covd-19. Any help or advice would be great, thank you.
