Sorry Corona related. AIBU - working from home

A simple question; I have diabetes, high blood pressure (well controlled) and a blood clotting disorder.

I travel to work on public transport (no other option) and spend some of my working day with members of the public.

Am I being unreasonable to ask to work from home from now on?

It's possible to do my job from home (usually wfh about once a month anyway), but at the moment it's not being offered as a standard thing. And some people where I work can't do their job from home.

Well. You are being a little unreasonable. In that, how long will the self quarantine last? Months? Are you ready for that?

Diabetes put's you at a high risk due to weakened immune system in all fairness. The blood clotting condition is neither here nor there in relation to corona.

If you can WFH, do it. Obviously your health comes first. Be prepared for a fall out at work. Two of the people in my office are self-isolating at present for random reasons. Neither have been infected, or been in contact with anyone suspected of even carrying. As there are no official guidelines that companies can adhere to really at the moment it is very difficult.

I agree in a sense @IsAnybodyListening , I wondered myself how long I would feel I needed to do it for.
It's more about the travel than being in actual work. If I could walk there I wouldln't be so worried but I have to take at least 2, sometimes 3, modes of public transport and it feels like asking for trouble.

I can also WFH, currently away on business (within the UK) and meant to be again next week.

My boss encourages WFH as much as possible and tonight said no travel means not going to my local office, not just travelling to different regions

I agree with PP. When does this end?

I have a feeling the government is going to fire the starting gun on the next phase in about 10 days time if they can hold out till then...

That way it's a week before the school holidays. So school would be closed anyway within a week and working parents would (the majority) have already booked time off or made other arrangements, this minimising the economic pain as much as they can.

Personally if I had any health issues that put me in the at risk group . I would wfh (I am doing exactly this as I have no spleen an am immune impaired)
