Would you still take toddler to soft play?

This coronavirus is worrying me silly but toddler needs to get out and about to let off steam. If I make sure his hands are clean when we leave and try and prevent him mouthing anything - do you think it's safe?

I’d still go. Just take them and maybe take wipes or sanitizer to use a little more frequently then soap water when finish playing. We went swimming yesterday. I’m sure others would so not to that.

Yesthatsme · 09/03/2020 17:45

We’re not taking him! Instead a run in the grass with a football!

RoscoePColtrane · 09/03/2020 17:46

I am not remotely bothered about the Corona stuff, but anything that got me out of soft play is too good an excuse to waste.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/03/2020 17:47

Yes I took mine yesterday, I mean she still goes nursery so mine could get it there.

Spudlet · 09/03/2020 17:55

I’m not, but not because of coronavirus. Mine has just had a good couple of months of illness - d&v, followed by horrible colds, topped off with scarlet fever. I can’t cope with any more bugs right now, so we’re steering well clear of the brightly coloured Petri dish that is soft play until I feel a bit less traumatised...!

There is a specific section for these posts (for those of us who are fed up with people asking the same thing over and over and over... zzzzz)

TryMeAgain · 09/03/2020 18:53

You don’t need to read it surely @vhs95?!

TryMeAgain · 09/03/2020 18:54

And it was almost an hour since the last post so your the one bumping it up...ironic!

Doodlesquah1 · 09/03/2020 18:55

I wouldn’t

SunShineLovers · 09/03/2020 19:04

If you are a regular customer and you value the business then yes I think you should, simply to support the business.

But if you're not interested in having the business around in a year or 2 don’t bother.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 09/03/2020 19:10

Yes we are still going and it was rammed on saturday

user1493413286 · 09/03/2020 19:13

I wondered this but am still taking DD; if I stop then I’d stop doing everything and end up staying in all the time

LilyMumsnet · 09/03/2020 19:22

We're just moving this over to the right topic now. Flowers

Slat3 · 09/03/2020 19:23

Yes, I’m not doing anything differently (apart from washing my hands more & trying to avoid touching my face)

HotChocolatemarshmallows · 09/03/2020 20:02

I worry so much about the virus etc but if we don't go then we will never go out apart from food shopping!

So you only ever leave the house to go food shopping or soft play? Soft play is a hotbed of germs and spit and bogies and sick and pee, there’s no way I’d be going while the virus thing is going on. Why not go to a park or something? Of course there are germs in parks and stuff but at least you can be more vigilant about hands going in mouths after touching things

mnthrowaway202020 · 09/03/2020 21:35

I think (understandably so) soft play is pretty unhygienic, there’s other activities you could try instead.

randomsabreuse · 09/03/2020 21:36

Nope. Last 2 softplay visits brought home vomiting bugs and the one before that gave DS slapped cheek... Skanky place at the best of times.

More likely to brave a rural farm shop one than a city one - and first thing rather than later on if I did get desperate! Would probably go to park for a puddle splash in preference
