Are children really not affected?

I've heard loads about how children aren't getting Coronavirus or only very mild cases. I'm starting to get a bit worried, they are now cases very close to me and I have an almost 4 year old who is prone to chest issues? Anyone have any facts or theories about this?

My understanding is that they are just as likely to catch it compared to other age groups but they're more likely to have a mild dose.

i think the concern around kids is that they are the ones more likely to spread the virus....not so much get it!!

Children are affected. The evidence currently indicates that they are less likely to be severely affected/die. This doesn't mean they have some magic child immunity though and there are theories that the stats are not accurate since in China (still of course the largest number of cases and so heavily influencing the stats), the children were already on school holidays when the outbreak began and have not been in school since - plus their isolation is closely monitored.
