Is it definitely not Coronavirus without a fever?

I have googled but can’t find a definitive answer.
My husband can a sore throat and dry cough and a little shortness of breath but no fever whatsoever.
He works in central London so travels by train and tube everyday so we have no idea if he could have been in contact with someone with the virus.
Without wanting to be over the top, just concerned about passing something onto other people, should he be going to work tomorrow?

Ring 111 and ask them.

AlexaShutUp · 08/03/2020 22:02

I would suggest that he rings 111 too. Maybe better to stay at home tomorrow until he is sure.

theoriginalunoriginal · 08/03/2020 22:02

Dunno but let me know, I've got the same!

SoMuchToBits · 08/03/2020 22:07

Well it's hard to tell, as some people have apparently had the virus but been totally asymptomatic. The only way to know is to be tested really.

FATEdestiny · 08/03/2020 22:10

I'm similar. Dry cough, definate shortness of breath, and some very high (200+) heart rate spikes during exercise since Friday. No temperature though.

I'm anti social a SAHM with school age children though. I love solitude. So figure my risk of coming into contact with a carrier must be low - it could only be the gym. I'm working on the rational assumption I just have a normal winter cold virus. But who knows?

Lots of hand washing and tissue use, but I'm not going to self isolate.

Thanks, just wanted some opinions.
He’s going to work from home tomorrow just in case and call 111 if he gets any other symptoms

111 online symptom checker discounts Coronavirus if you haven’t been to a danger area or in contact with a confirmed case so the phone line probably will as well. Even if he had a complete set of symptoms he wouldn’t get tested.

Fiddlersgreen · 08/03/2020 22:23

Yes we did that online checker but how would you know if you’d been in contact with someone who had it when you come into contact with so many different people each day that you’ll never see again? All quashed together on the tube

The Abels from the Diamond Princess reckoned they'd only had the fever for a few hours - maybe overnight. But then they didn't think they were ill until they got to hospital in Japan and David nearly collapsed. They both had viral pneumonia.

Both now looking really well and hoping to be discharged soon.

Sunflower20 · 08/03/2020 22:39

I doubt 111 will be that helpful. What exactly are they going to say that you don't know already?

Notcontent · 08/03/2020 23:37

The NHS syndrome checker is pretty useless and illogical - I mean, you wouldn’t necessarily know that you have been in contact with someone who has it, would you?

Notcontent · 08/03/2020 23:37

Symptom, not syndrome...

PickAChew · 08/03/2020 23:43

Current stats are about 25k tested and 200 positive.

Just ring 111 or look up the gov.Com guidelines.

Iggly · 09/03/2020 07:03

111 will know more than anonymous randoms on the internet.

JudyCoolibar · 09/03/2020 07:26

There are some quite nasty respiratory illnesses going around that are not C19. If there is no fever and you haven't been in contact with anyone who is at risk, it's highly unlikely that you have it.
