AIBU to stay off work if the schools close?
ValleyoftheHorses · 08/03/2020 10:30
I have one child who is at primary school. I work 2 days.
I am a dentist so frontline for getting the virus (aerosol) but not essential staff.
If DS school closes then either DH tries to look after him while also WFH (tricky), I stop work for a while or my parents do childcare.
Everyone seems to assume I will carry on and my parents will look after DS, but this worries me.
They are in their 70s so higher risk of complications if they get it.
WWYD?
We can afford to have a couple of months without my earnings.

I’ve been thinking this. 2 dc under 3. Both dh and I work full time. We live on an island. No cases here yet.
If nursery closes Wed either have to take leave or wfh (difficult with the kids). Or grandparents take them. My dad has an underlying condition (copd).

If your DPs are competent to look after your DC, then surely they are also competent to decide whether they wish to take the risk to themselves of doing so.
