This is very difficult time for everyone, but I really feel for our DC who are sitting exams this summer. The dialogue around possibly closing schools for a period is incredibly stressful as they are all on a count down to the exams.

Any helpful ideas to discuss this with our DC

I've got one doing GCSE's and one doing A levels. Dd has been off timetable the last couple of weeks due to a big performance that's part of the performing arts diploma she is also doing. The next few weeks were supposed to be catch up/really getting down to it.

Ds is autistic and not good at independent study. His anxiety levels are already through the roof.

Many schools used to send children home several weeks before GCSEs for study leave. If the schools get closed then buy the CGP revision books or similiar and get revising. I took my son with autism out of school 8 weeks before his exams anyway as he needed more time to revise. If you can't afford the books (which are generally only a few pounds each) then there are many online resources available. If GCSEs have to be cancelled OFQUAL will come up with a protocol of some kind and it will apply to everyone so noone should be disadvantaged. In the mean time - keep revising!

The schools have already closed here, we are in HK and are sitting GCSE's, and are not scheduled to open until the earliest 20th April and it has been rough.

And since schools stopped having study leave most of the results have improved.

Dd (also autistic) would have revised using a variety of resources brilliantly. its the way she is. Ds has a totally different profile. We have every revision guide under the sun, he will not/cannot use them. Organising revision is beyond him. School is school and home is home in his mind.

Plus there are various assessments (especially for music in the case of ds) where the schools resources are needed for composition and recording of performances.
