How is that helpful??? Surely people in those areas should know.

34 new cases that they're not telling us where.

What can you do with the information?

Pootles34 · 05/03/2020 09:52

It would be useful - if you live in that area you would maybe not go out to the town centre quite so much? But I think it's more that as numbers go up, it becomes a bit of an administrative nightmare to publish up to date figures.

BagpussAteMyHomework · 05/03/2020 09:59

I imagine that there are infectious but asymptomatic people all over the place. We should stay calm and take reasonable precautions wherever we are.

SquirmOfEels · 05/03/2020 10:03

They might still be reported in local news - either radio or newspapers (where they still exist - this might be a good time to start supporting yours) and the local TV bulletins (mine had a report on cases in nearby hospital this morning)

But basically it means that the number of cases has now risen enough to have moved from 'contain' to 'delay' and that new cases could be anywhere. So underlying message is treat everywhere as potential source

3teens2cats · 05/03/2020 10:04

Firstly it's only confirmed cases that are being reported, many other people will have a mild version and not ever have it confirmed. Secondly it could lead to a people being less cautious with hygiene if they believe there are no local cases. This will lead to a faster spread of the virus. If you knew of a confirmed case in your town what would you do with that information? Shut yourself away?

Cinammoncake · 05/03/2020 10:11

They've changed it back now it says on the news, and are going to be reporting it on a daily basis again (I think one day lag to check stats?)

Everydaylife · 05/03/2020 10:16

Apparently they are now. It was a miscommunication.

Skyejuly · 05/03/2020 10:18

Have they updated where the cases where yesterday?

Helenj1977 · 05/03/2020 10:29

Thank you 😊 I'm really starting to panic now, I know I shouldn't but I am.

25 cases confirmed in London, including 2 who tested positive in King's (Camberwell)

TiddleTaddleTat · 05/03/2020 18:45

Do we have any information about when community transmission is likely to have started in the U.K.? I have had a cold/flu bug for a week or so - mild really - and have panicked that this could have been covid 19. However according to PHE advice I had no need to suspect it having not travelled or been in contact with anyone with it confirmed.
However I would have been in public buildings and mixing with lots of people who could have travelled around the world (university) from mid February.
There are probably many like me !

BloomedAgain · 05/03/2020 21:50

I wonder when we'll have a location update

There is a graph on there of numbers of cases by region

bitheby · 06/03/2020 00:00

I'm quite glad we don't have this level of information:
