This is what DH asked me the other night.

I said well I assume there's a chance that the more people who get it, the more people will be infected. And that I assume, we are possibly at risk, unless a vaccine, or treatment is developed?

I guess this is right?

Yes and much like flu it could become seasonal to an extent (although you can get flu all year round, it’s much more prevalent in the winter).

This is a novel corona virus. That means, it's new to us the first time around. We have no protection, and our immune system hasn't seen anything like it.

Even if it sticks around, and we don't get a vaccine, and it mutates, it won't be novel next time around. Our bodies will have seen something like it, and will be able to put up a much better fight.

Also, you have to think that if the people who have already had it are protected, they then start to act as firewalls to those who haven't. Presumably, the first people who catch it are the ones who are in contact with most people. If they build up immunity through having already caught, and recovered from it, then they are a good road block to it continuing it's spread in the later stages.
