Covid

I really don't trust Boris Johnson on coronavirus because of his non stop lying.

He lies all the time.
He gets his cabinet to chant lies.
He said the NHS is fully prepared to cope with coronavirus when we all know the NHS has been starved of funds for the last ten years and can barely cope with winter.

I've never known any UK politician lie like this and I really wish he wouldn't.

  1. he's surrounded by senior scientists, who have made evidence-based careers
  2. pandemic has been top of the national risk register for a couple of decades at least. The prep work for thus was not done under thus administration
  3. the NHS and PHE (plus S/W, though for this they work indivisible together) have been working on and refining plans for years.

I'm not trying to tell you not to have a pop at Boris

But do want to point out that he (and this administration) will not really be making any difference to detailed and long standing plans.

Though I bet all the planners over the years are having a bit of a fingers-crossed moment now that their table-top scenario planning and gaming is becoming a real world event

he (and this administration) will not really be making any difference to detailed and long standing plans.. Thank God.

I’d hesitate to believe Boris if he told me the Pope was Catholic, but in this situation there are some sane, clever health professionals & scientists whose advice the govt seem to be following.
The US could be in deep trouble as nobody can afford time off work for quarantine, testing or illness, or $$$$ for testing, let alone for treatment. it’s a potentially horrible scenario.

Fortunately they don’t seem to trust Johnson & Hancock any more than most people. So everything that’s being said is quite heavily controlled by PHE and the CMO who do know what they are doing.

Otherwise I think we’d be looking a bit like the US by now.

My husband just tried to make me laugh by wondering if BJ will put Chris Grayling in charge of CV.
KenDodd that would be like a secret sign to the nation that they can't cope, right? Grin
