I'm 61 and retired. I have auto immune disease and a lung disorder plus I'm on Herceptin a cancer drug which impacts immunity. I'm stuffed if I get it.
I live rurally with DH and have a good three weeks supply of food. Stockpiling prescription drugs is not an option as they only give you one prescription a month. I'm thinking of getting drugs delivered though.
I was planning lots of holidays abroad this year as I've just finished cancer treatment. Will not do those trips.
I think we could hibernate for a while. It would be miserable though.
The big worry is adult DC.
One lives at home and the other nearby. They are young and healthy and would likely shrug it off.
I don't want to not see them. I think we need a family plan.

My mum is 80 and I can't see her staying at home unless forced to

This seems a bit foolhardy - if she is generally healthy, why risk it when she may not be given life-saving treatment if the virus hits enough people?

Will the House of Lords see lower attendance? I presume most are over 60?

DM does my school runs and babysits after school. We're all fooked as the first case has just come into our local hospital where DH works. We'll all just carry on and pray

"This seems a bit foolhardy"

I'd think the same at age 80:
too little time left to waste months cooped up at home, at least unless official advice is to do so

My 82-year-old mother is still under consultant care for her incurable cancer. Currently in remission and doing well but travelling to her appointments by bus. I might suggest taxis or the car as this CV progresses. The bus to the appointment today went past a business being deep-cleaned as an employee has confirmed CV. She seemed interested but not too worried by this. I think after cancer and chemo and losing my father before Christmas nothing really worries her too much.
