Very informative and interesting debate on Al Jazerra news 12.50 onwards.

Three speakers from Riyadh, Kuwait and Iran.

Why is Iran attacking us? We are using our weapons on defensive fire from Iran. Stop trying to bring us into your war with the US and Israel.

Iran "you should help your neighbours..... etc".

Kuwait representative "its 2026 now, we want yo move forward with peace in the region FOR ALL stop trying to drag us in....."

Seems lots of countries want peace with Israel not ongoing wars like Iran and its proxies.... Hezbollah, Hamas, The Houthis .....

Much head shaking from Riyadh and Kuwait whenever the Iranian spokesman utters his nonsense....

Iranians hate arabs almost as much as they hate the west.

The only people they tolerate are Russia and China but only because there is something in it for them.

He wanted them to join in and help them though, happy to escalate further. They were having none of it though.

This is the leadership. Not the all of the Iranian people. Don't confuse the two please.

Agree - I should have said that in my original post x

That sounds promising @Ihatetomatoes

It's encouraging to see other countries in the ME distancing themselves from the Iranian regime.

Kuwait and the other Emirates have been carefully conducting business and Successfully trading with any country for a long time. Since oil was first discovered there they have been pretty careful and it has benefitted them. In the Gulf States are all nationalities and all religions working to make them successful. I think it is Bahrain where there is a substantial Shia population. Involving them against their own interests will not make them friendly.

The business of those small countries is business.

Interesting post @MrsStarskie

Tehran has also threatened: “We are saying to the enemy that if it decides to hit our main centres, we will hit all economic centres in the region.”

It has lead to many using roads to get to Muscat to then fly out.

"The regional dimension of the conflict continued to expand, as Iran struck Gulf states and Hezbollah fired on Israel and Cyprus. Turkey said Nato air defences had intercepted a ballistic missile heading towards its airspace, and the US said it had sunk an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean. "

Many gulf countries have very small numbers if nationals, think theres just over a million Kuwaitis. There is no benefit to any of them to get into a fight with the USA or Israel and they really don’t want to. To be blunt most arabs dislike “the zionist entity” to an unhinged degree. But they aren’t stupid, they mainly just funnel money to their favoured terrorist group. Thats changed in recent years and theres been a significant crackdown by governments on terror funding. I think also a weak Iran benefited a lot of gulf countries. These governments do fine and are stable because they are able to provide their citizens with a good standard of living and stability. A strong oil producing secular Iran aligned with Israel is disruptive to those of a religious bent.

A lot of the turning a blind eye was because of anti-zionism, it was fine when Iran was using it’s proxies to attack Israel but most of them do not like being on the receiving end of it themselves. Theres also a problem of a lot of non gulf arabs experiencing a bit of schadenfreude and enjoying watching the gulf get bombed by Iran. A lot of khaleejis are up in arms about that on twitter. So the attitude towards Palestine may shift slightly (a lot complaining about seeing Palestinians specifically backing Iran on this, the gulf countries donate huge amounts in aid to Palestinians, I hope that aid continues personally,). Many absolutely do not understand why they are being bombed because they feel they have been aligned with Iran on Israel.

Khaleejis are also not like hezbo members, they aren’t going to sacrifice their country for Palestine. They are completely reasonable to find this utterly bewildering, Iran has launched missiles at something like 13 countries, they are being utterly batshit. Which proves the point of why these fanatics should never ever have had a nuke. The only reason no-one wants to directly confront Russia is because of nukes, I’m fucking relieved tbh that Trump and Netanyahu are dealing with this before it becomes an issue for everyone. I think the gulf will soon realise the benefits of being anti terror milita. I think most of them thought they would never be targets but were fine with Iran funding anti Israeli militia.

Honestly I don’t think people necessarily want peace for Israel iyswim, they just don’t want it to affect them. They will pursue peace with Israel if it guarantees their own safety though. lebanon is going to get stronger armed i to doing what they should have done themselves. I fully assume a peace for land agreement will be the outcome of the current Israeli action in Lebanon.

This is why on the whole I’m quite positive about this whole thing, I want to see the Iranians free and I want stability and peace. Sometimes the only way to obtain that is conflict unfortunately.

Thank you for your comments.

I hope you are right, I also think the other countries are different from Iran and don't want to get involved and don't support them. The Kuwait representative said, it's 2026, we need to move forward, not back and make peace and have better relationships with everyone in the area. That message should be repeated to everyone. Sadly, the proxies of Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and The Houthis just want to bring chaos to the region, sadly cheered on by some Westerners who think they are on 'the right side of history'. If all those terrorist organisations were gone then the people in their respective areas would be much better off.
