Yes, they are in a very poor position now. Even in comparison with when you first posted.
Of course regime change could help. But terrifying time for them all.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 05/03/2026 17:12

What stupid people. I guess with the regime falling they could be released but don’t hold out much hope.

AmandaBrotzman · 05/03/2026 17:31

The regime isn't falling :( the power vacuum is going to be filled by al Khameini junior if you believe the news.

LightningMode · 05/03/2026 17:33

I do feel sorry for the son, it's not his fault that his mother and step-father are fuckwits.

As for them - they were told, over and over, what they were travelling into. They were told not to do it, over and over. She posted that on Instragram, and that they were going to do it anyway because - people good! People nice!

Fuckwits.

Oh ok. So get rid of one tyrant you get another in his place.

Probably. Well done Trump 👏🏼

I feel a bit for the son left to hold the fort here but omg what where they thinking?? They thought they were so cool...

Snorting at the mate of Joe going off to tell him 🤭

My SIL is in Tehran. She managed to contact us and described US bombers the size of passenger planes dumping tonnes of ordinance at a time, over 20 of which landed simultaneously at one point. It appears there is no detection, radar or warning system left. Government orders on Saturday were for citizens to leave Tehran - obviously SIL hasn’t and neither have most people apparently, but I’m not sure whether they’d bother to “evacuate” prisons.

Obviously it’s a big place of 12 million people, but fuck me how terrifying must it be on the ground. I’m afraid (most of) my sympathy is with the Iranians who have no choice but to watch their beautiful country turned to rubble, rather than those who were just too naive and foolish to do their homework.

Nobody sensible mourns Khomeini, but the US and Israel are ensuring that the next generation of Islamist wingnut suicide bombers have plenty to be aggrieved about. What a mess.

Beat wishes and I.hope the remains safe. Wouldn't it be better for her to leave temporary until the conflict is over? If the government are advising it, it makes sense.

Thank you @Ihatetomatoes. She thought that the advice to leave on Saturday was a tactic by the government to prevent more protests or demonstrations. I’m not sure how easy it is to leave now, nor if it’s sensible to try as a lone female. DH has a few friends who are still there too and is hoping they will keep in touch with SIL. Comms within Iran are easier apparently. 🤞🏻

Cornishclio · 05/03/2026 23:35

Why would anyone go to a country like this? I am all for travel but people need to do their research as to the safe places to go.

RightOnTheEdge · 05/03/2026 23:55

The UK government : Do not travel to Iran it is very dangerous and there is a very high risk of British travellers being arrested.

The Foremans travel to Iran anyway, get put in jail blame the government Confused

FAFO! Arrogant, stupid fuckwits.
