Why is Israel still preventing journalists from entering Gaz

I know the ceasefire is precarious, but at the behest of the US - it is mostly still operational. Why is Israel still preventing independent journalists from entering Gaza- what have they to hide?

Yes Hamas are still there, but we need to hear people’s stories and the world needs to clearly understand the challenges Palestinians are facing.

Kushner said Gaza looks like a nuclear bomb site!

Does Israel care what the world thinks anyway?

Israeli Supreme Court grants new delay in petition on access to Gaza for journalists

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) regrets the Israeli Supreme Court's decision to grant the Israeli government 30 days to respond to a petition to allow journalists access to the Gaza Strip following the ceasefire. RSF believes the blockade on access, in...

Simple, because they would be unable to justify what they have done, and continue to do, and it would earn them the criticism they rightly deserve.

Israel have done all that they can to kill off any witnesses (medical personnel and journalists) in Gaza and now they are hunting the last ones so that they can delete their media. They have no desire for the world to see or talk to people. This whole episode echoes of ww2 and as certain characters on mumsnet have repeatedly stated the reference of “never again” was not to extreme war and displacement but only for Jewish people and that is why Israel has not let independent press into Gaza.

Stripes56 · 29/10/2025 08:18

I agree that most likely Israel doesn’t want the world to hear from ordinary Palestinians and see what has happened to Gaza.

The Palestinians need adequate shelter, food, education, hope for a future.

There doesn’t seem to be a viable plan at present. If we can get journalists in - there may be additional pressure on leaders to continue beyond this so called ceasefire.

I follow a family on Instagram, and today they posted their fears regarding the movement of the yellow line meaning for them their home would be lost. The next post was to say they received the quadcopter knock, followed by the aftermath including 11 family members lost, 3 children. That’s a reality. Theres a lot of mumsnet that claims that fake news; it is real life. People have been living in flattened, desolate vision of hell and that only seems to be getting bigger. Outside people coming in would be reality coming out. In truth people don’t want the truth and thats why more people in Israel are protesting, the settlers are becoming extreme etc.

That’s incredibly sad. I am sure not a unique position either. We don’t get to hear enough of the human stories from Gaza.

I don’t think most people are under any illusions about what has happened in Gaza, and it will have an indelible impact on how people view the Middle East. However- will it have an impact of the lives of Palestinians?

We can only hope that Trumps mission for the Nobel Peace prize means he wants to see a noticeable impact on the lives of ordinary Palestinians.

... To stop reporting on atrocities committed by IDF... So that media agencies keep saying "and we can't independently varify this" because there's no journalists there.

BluntPlumHam · 29/10/2025 21:59

Op they’ve resumed the bombing again. Pictures of children killed in the most brutal possible manner are now on social
media. If this is what we are seeing with the limited access we have after they’ve wiped out almost all journalists there can you imagine what we would see or hear if international journalists were allowed in.

Or the number of deaths or suffering being labelled as Hamas propaganda.

I don’t think letting in journalists is going to meaningfully change what people think about Israel nor Hamas though- the evidence is already there.

It’s also about giving Palestinians a voice.

I hate to admit it but Israel know that if a white western journalist from the likes of BBC et al stands amongst the rubble and carnage reporting exactly what the Gazan journalists have been screaming for the last two years then it’s entirely game over for them.

PevenseygirlQQ · 30/10/2025 16:14

I’m sure Israel will say that it’s not safe because Hamas might take them out, which of course is true, but if a journalist knows the risk and wants to take it then its a personal choice, I think letting journalists in to show Hamas for what they are ( for those who don’t already know) wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

Israel don’t want anyone to see what has been happening, the atrocities they have committed, what the IDF get away with. It’s as simple as that.

Gloriia · 30/10/2025 16:51

Because they'd expect the IDF to protect them and they're a bit busy at the moment.

It would actually be in Israel's interest to have 'independent' journalists in there instead of western media publishing all the crap hamas feed them but they know they'll get abducted and or murdered if they don't sing from the terrorist's songsheet, so it's probably easier to just ban them.

Then Israel are at liberty to say, the IDF will not protect you and enter at your own peril, if journalists choose to go they should be allowed
