IDF confirms strike on terror operatives who crossed ceasefire line

Times of Israel reporting today that the IDF carried out a strike in the southern Gaza Strip earlier today against a group of Palestinian terror operatives who crossed the Yellow Line demarcating the military’s pullback in the Gaza Strip.

According to the military, the operatives were digging in the ground and approaching Israeli forces in the Khan Younis area, which is under IDF control as part of the ceasefire.

The operatives “posed an immediate threat” to the troops, and upon being identified, they were targeted in a strike, the IDF says.

Also reported by Al Jazeera but rather differently:

  • Despite the ongoing ceasefire, Israel has carried out a drone attack near southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, killing at least two people, according to Nasser Hospital.

Note the missing details that the drone attack was aimed at those attempting to cross the yellow line (now clearly marked) and that the Palestinians killed were terror operatives.

This strike follows a previous one on Saturday when the IDF targeted what it said was an operative from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group who was planning an imminent attack against troops.

Speaking on Monday aboard Trump’s plane during a trip to Asia, Marco Rubio said, “We don’t view that (Saturday's strike) as a violation of the ceasefire.”

“They have the right if there’s an imminent threat to Israel, and all the mediators agree with that,” Rubio said.

Rubio additionally said the ceasefire was based on obligations on both sides, reiterating that Hamas needs to speed up the return of the remains of dead hostages.

How did they know they were terror operatives out of curiosity?

Probably it didn’t see likely that civilians would cross the line and be digging in the ground. Also they apparently ignored the soldiers warnings.

Plus they had received intel about the planned attack on Saturday. Not sure if they had received intel about today’s incident or not.

The IDF have made it very clear they will kill anyone who attempts to breach the ceasefire line and have put physical markers in place.

Thank you, I’ve read the Times of Israel and it didn’t make it clear to me how they knew those specific people killed were terror operatives, until after? Unless I have read it completely wrong?

Haven’t seen anything about the planned attack on the IDF so I’ll have a google.

I do find ToI and Al jazeera to be a bit bias in their reporting so am not always inclined to believe what they say.

Twiglets1 · 27/10/2025 16:04

I find TOI only has a moderate bias in favour of Israel because they do criticise the Israel government quite often and do present both sides of a dispute.

Al Jazeera is very biased against Israel & only ever presents things from one viewpoint.

I look for 100% neutral sources but unfortunately they don’t appear to exist!

This will be reported on social media (here included) as ‘IDF kill Palestinians in disputed zone’

The problem some are now having is they were adamant the yellow line had to be physical. But now it is physical it’s hard to justify why innocent Palestinians would be trying to cross it. They like to deny the likelihood of terrorist intent, despite some crossing the line a week ago who started shooting at the IDF.

All they can do now is complain that the line looks too physical to the extent that they can accuse Israel of trying to make the line permanent (despite we are still very firmly still in phase one territory).

Confused as to why Nasser (13), Jumana (10), Ibrahim (6), and Muhammad (5) Ihab Abu Shaaban were all killed along with their parents when a tank shelled their minibus carrying two families, simply trying to return home in Al Zeitoun, Gaza City, on October 17, 2025.

These were civilians, children and adults, with no indication they were armed or engaged in hostilities.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 28/10/2025 12:01

Nasma (12), Karam (10), and Anas (8) Sufian Shaaban we’re also killed.

That's a completely different incident I believe that happened before the physical yellow blocks were installed to mark out the current IDF territory.

A tragedy for the family that they crossed the line accidentally it seems. That is unlikely to happen again now the physical markers are in place.
