Hamas’ reasoning?

As we hit 2 years since the October 7th attack, is anyone any further towards understanding why Hamas attacked the people they did on that day? As in their actual reason for that attack? And for the choice of those communities? Did the organisation ever explain why they chose that event?

Before anyone says Google, I have! And there are broad reasons, but I’m trying to understand the reason for that type of attack, and beginning at a music festival?

Hamas is a terrorist organisation who would like to see all Jewish people wiped out.

This.

I am sure Hamas had the campaign of global Jew hate as a goal when it launched its attack. Indeed some of their depraved planning documents show they wanted to inspire copy cat action throughout the world.

The irony is that Hamas currently want to keep small arms as they fear not Israelis but Palestinians who would fear then apart in future as revenge for descending Gaza into a self destructive war as well as rival gangs.

part of the global hate campaign currently is to try and legitimise the right of future P alestinains to choose a 'democtraric' leadership that once again embodies the hateful manifesto of Hamas i.e. to continue their euphemistic struggle.

They absolutely knew it would provoke a response from Israel. They wanted a response so that they could claim victim status. They couldn’t care less about their own people.

The poor Palestinians caught between evil Hamas and mental Netanyahu and his horrific government.

I thought there have been spells of resistance against Hamas as some Palestinians recognise them for what they are.

I mean, really do the Palestinians have much of a choice? Not sure sure how much of a hero / resister I’d be with violent thugs holding a gun to my head and using my children as shields.

October 7th, and all the subsequent protests, has reminded the world that Islamist extremism is still prevalent.
Many people, ‘the silent majority’, are wondering why their Christian countries are having pro-Islamist demonstrations. Why are there so many people chanting ‘Death! Death!’ ‘Rise up!’ every weekend.
The countries recognizing Palestine and allowing these demonstrations are lining themselves up for far right wing governments.
We will see this with Reform in the UK.

You can’t look at the conflict from the point of view of logic and reason. The vast majority will absolutely believe in their religion and believe they have to fight for that religion. They believe they are doing the right and moral thing. All manipulated quite easily because when religion is the law and death is the consequence of not believing there is no choice:

I read an article in a German news outlet about a pro Palestine protest in Berlin yesterday, where people were chanting “Yallah, yallah, resistance, everywhere, in every country!”
Resistance to what exactly?

HellsBalls · 08/10/2025 07:17

Yesterday’s marches were to honour the martyrs of October 7th.
People need to realise that just behind Jews on the Islamic hatred scale are LGBTQ.

Honestly when people see things in such a black & white way and fail to look at the other perspective the cycle of violence just continues
Exactly that. If people truly believe that it solely comes down to just killing all the Jews, what hope is there for our world. As basis and pointless as saying the IDF just want to get rid of all Palestinians.

Decades and decades of conflict, 100s of highly intelligent people including skills negotiators, historians, political and sociological experts, etc....for mere MN posters to conclude it just about wanting to exterminate the other race....its disparaging to read!

They wanted to trigger a massive retaliation as a recruitment tool.

I think at the time derailing the Israel Saudi normalisation process and the Abraham accords was probably part of it. They knew Israel would be forced to go into Gaza if they held Israeli hostages and literally nothing enrages the Arab public more than Israel.

When it comes to ‘the Jews’, it is that simple. Two millennia of wanting to get rid of ‘the Jews’.
